You will not run up front for $8000. You may get lucky and have alot of cars drop out and you finish near the front, but you wont be there consistantly. You have a 0% chance of winning with a $8000 car. Pick any feature winner from the three local area track, Eldora, Limaland, and Waynesfield, and $8000 won't get you in the same zip code as one of those cars. I don't know, because I haven't looked into it, but I would think an $8000 B-mod would be very competative.

You bought Brents car for what, $5000? So you have under $3000 in your motor?

I dont think the real arguement here is the fact of who spends what. I can spend 10k in a compact if I want, or spend the 650 bucks I did. Cubic dollars helps a ton, but again, thats not the arguement. The problem is the stock car class is so far out of hand, explain to me when the last time you seen a 86 monte carlo carrying the left front 3 feet in the air pulling into the grocery store. The only class to move up is to modifieds which are completely different animals. Hell half of the stock cars are old modifieds, some with leaf springs and some bar cars. Yes jizz-ewwie, the bar cars do get beat by leaf spring cars every night. I actually can not remember the last time a bar stock car won a race (not including eldora). The weight transfers differently due to motors being moved forward and blah blah blah, apparently you know this though. I think the b-mods would be an awesome class for the current stock car guys (who are racing with 8 cars) to get a chance to learn in bar cars before moving to a 750-800hp modfied with rear steer and all that stuff. I would say give them the stock car motor rules in the 2013 season, then in 2014 season, make a cubic inch limit such as 360 chevy, that way guys with 355's can run and stuff, however how is anyone going to check this stuff? All stuff that would need sorted out. The b-mod division is gaining popularity out west, so why not here? Its not like were saying screw stock cars, cause lima and eldora will still have them more than likely, I'd be interested in putting a car together if this class were to develop.

Original buy in yes- used, (its all steel @ 23 degree). Plus you can build on it yearly for that same budget. Everyone also can get sponsors to grow that budget at no extra, just gotta work for it. Took a few years with lots of hand me downs though- lol I don't want in on the witch fest though-haha I just think it can be done but may not be preferable for some time

Doesn't really matter to me either way I just don't think it will save anyone anything. Stocks or B mods there will always be enough people to outspend others and eliminate their chances so why change what ya got

Well my take on all of this is plain and simple........you spend what you want and do what you want. Most of us race because it is a hobby. Were not professionals by any means or we would be in the big leagues. If you can afford to spend the big bucks to get all the good stuff then that is your choice. But let's get back to the fact that some people do this because they just enjoy the sport and the fun that they have. Sure I would love to win every week and have the fastest car on the track. Tell me who wouldn't. But since I have started doing this I have met some really great people. For years I knew about the track and always said I should go there sometime. Once I did I was hooked and couldn't wait till I got the chance to drive a car. I'm in the compact class and it doesn't cost me a arm and a leg to be in it. I don't run up front but I have a blast. Would I like to move up to another class.......who wouldn't. Once you get that rush of being in the action on the track you just want to go faster. And with them offering 6 classes a night, I'm sure there is something for everyone. I've said it before and I'll say it again.....The guys that do this are really good at what they do. And just like anything that you do you what to be the best. I myself try to do better every week and the learning curve is very sharp. But I know I'll never get rich doing this, but the rewards that I do get from friendships and the fans is overwhelming. Sure we have sponsors and that helps. But I guess it just matters on the person behind the wheel. No matter how many classes you have and what they might be, I'm sure most of us would find a way to get it done. Bottom line.......Have fun and be safe.

like the idea of a b-mod class so make it an all steel motor class. and make a limit on the horse power like 500 or 600 hp.

Hence the stock car motor ruling, the junk intake with a 2 barrel carb is probably one of the very few limiting factors of the stock cars pushing 700-750 horse. I know that theres a few cars running cranks/rotating assemblies that are better than some of the front running sprints (winged and non wing). They really arent the "turds" that people proclaim them to be.

we bought are car for 4,000 and have maybe 5,000 in our 23 degree motor. the crank and rods in the motor are 24 years old. so i believe good set up and maintenance,and decent driver can go a long ways,with out spending a ton of money. i bet im one of the very few that run up front,that has a OEM block.

I said a few years ago that 'the stock car class is pretty much dead'...not to mention it was out of hand spending wise.

The class is pretty much dead because the 2 door, rear wheel drive with a V8 car, is a thing of the past from Detroit. The cars that are left that are decent, are going for big money...so all that is left are rotten junk that is crusher food. Drag racers, dirt racers, pavement racers, high school kids, and car collectors, have used up what Detroit made.

The class is pretty much dead because of the people spending their way to victory lane. The more rules you put on them (or any class) to try to keep the cost down, just adds to the cost. Why? Because guys just throw money into finding a way to circumvent the rules to make that 'junk intake and 2bbl carb' run like it's a good intake with a 4bbl.

The class is dead because across the entire country there is a huge difference in what a track calls a 'stock car'. Rules from tracks in PA are very different than rules from tracks in IN, and OH tracks can't get on the same page with each other besides 2-3 at a time.

Some people might remember back in the mid 1980's a class called > E-Mods < showed up in this area. Yes, the 'E' stood for ECONOMY (AKA cheap/cheaper) They were supposed to have stock front clips with stock A arms and shocks, and damn near junkyard motors due to the claimer rule on them. It didn't take long before the 'E' was gone because 'we could do this and that to the engines and it would be cheaper than blowing up a junkyard motor', or 'we could do this and that to the chassis and it would be cheaper than using junkyard parts'.......and now look what the Modified class has become.

IMCA rules are different than UMP rules. Here again, not everybody is on the same page....

This B-Mod class will become the same thing before too long.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I've been around racing long enough to know, that a 'B-Mod' isn't going to -fix- anything, based on the past history/actions of racers, and their need for speed. ;)

It dosent matter what class it is if the track does not inforce the rules it will get out of hand. The other thing that hurts the stocks and mods is when you get people on here that are blowing the cost all out of proportion and scaring people away from running. when it comes done to it, the people that are spending big money are the ones that have to pay someone to work on there cars because they are not smart enough to do it themselves. There is alot of stuff you can do yourself and save money. Also seems like the first guy that is usually bitching is spending more than everyone else and still cant win,they are the first ones to cry about things getting out of hand. The facts are You can throw all the money at it that you want to but if you dont do your homework and have the have the whole package youre not going to win. If you look at the cars that are winning in the stocks and mods. they are the ones that have the most experience drivers in them, not just the most money spent. Leave the classes the way they are and inforce the rules

Why start another class that once again some will start buying bigger and then some who think they dont have a chance at winning will go to another track where they have a chance to maybe win. Just about every track you look at now the car counts are getting smaller and smaller. The economy has a lot to do with it, I dont think this is the time to start another class.

I don't think there is any class that has a budget limit on a class. Until you can claim the entire car for $x, someone will always spend more. We all agree on that. Enforcing the rules isn't the reason that stock counts are down. Just curious, without named, how do you think people are cheating? Stock cars in this area are specialized. They can run at I think 4 tracks. Lima, Eldora, Montpeiler, and Waynesfield. The idea of the sport mod is to use current stock cars, and new mods to run at hundreds of tracks. It will allow the guys who are getting "outspent" in an unlimited mod to maybe be more competitive on the b mod budget. And allow the stock car guys an easier path to unlimited mods if they chose. If the current stocks are allowed to run with the sport mods, I think its a logical choice. Jeremy
