Since the Pit Pass is more money this week, are the payouts more for each division as well?

Hey now, you know better than to try and use economic sense when talking about WESTERN PA race tracks...........

I thought it was supposed to be a points race? It was determined at the track on Saturday that is was going to be increased pay and no points. Why was this decision made? Their inceased pay was $50 more than a regular night. No points because they raised the pay $50 that is a joke.

Are you serious? Who is making these decisions? Why charge $15 for that show in the first place They were not paying out any extra money.

I heard on the pit PA system it was a points race for all divisions except Street stocks and fasttrack late models. Street stocks was an open rule show. Fast track got their own series points.

I think Mercer needs to hire a Public Relations person. Last nights show is a prime example of why. First, the stands were pretty empty. I didn't hear or see too much advertising for this race or for the weekly program except for the 50 slots of air time a day on Froggy. Second, I cannot tell you how many people were asking if it was a points night and if the payout was more since it cost extra to get in. It seemed nobody knew. I witnessed someone ask the guy at the pitboard and he said "no points". Then someone told him that they heard it was a points night and he said "I don't know, they never tell me anything." Come on. I even called the track this week a couple of times and nobody answered. I also emailed the track and nobody answered. I support Mercer weekly. They have given us a great track to run on every week. I am not on a witch hunt or complaining because I have some alterior motive. I just think that a person put in place to promote the track and keep information available & updated would be helpful.

So was it or was it not a points race?? I read and was told conflicting stories. Could someone from Mercer, not using a screen name, tell me the answer to this question. And with the confusion, how does this get corrected?? Communication with the teams is the obvious answer. I also like and support Mercer and this can be solved. I thought it was some time back from a track official, posted on this site, we were told that if it is not a special show for YOUR class, running Mercer rules, points would be awarded. As a car owner, please, a clear answer and all these questions can be put to bed.

So was July 14, 2012 a points race for all divisions running under Mercer rules??

Stocks were run as open stocks, thus not under Mercer rules last night. The crowd did seem down a bit, but then again, it's a sprint track, and with no 410s and extra admission I kind of expected that. BOSS wingless show at Sharon last night, also. Great night of racing though.

The schedule has last week as a regular night of races for all divisions. It does not say open stocks. They changed their mind at the last minute about points. How are you supposed to race for points if you keep on getting cheated out of points so to speak. Mercer is going to lose cars due to their indecisiveness. They better stick with the schedule. If it is going to differ from the schedule they should post a week ahead of time that way people can schedule accordingly and modify their cars to such a rule package. This changing the schedule and increasing the purse is razy especially when you bump it from $300 to $350 to win. Let us point race.

On Sunday, July 15th, Frank called me at home to explain and give me an answer. I thank him for talking time on a Sunday to do that. Frank is and was very approachable at the track and was very open with me on the phone. He explained what was happening. Saturday was a points race with increased purse. This Saturday will be the same. On the next regular show night, those winners will drop back as the rules state. Now,, Frank and I agree to disagree on some of this. But I have a lot respect for him calling me to answer my question(s). And I sure would not change places with him running the track. I can not speak about the other classes as my question was about the OSW class. Thanks again Frank for clearing this up for me.
