I heard from at least 6 people last night, including a Lernerville employee that Bolland was caught with a raceceiver that splits communications between the track and his crew. Did anyone else hear this and is it true? If it is true, the issue of being dq'd over the incident on the track shouldn't even matter.

I have heard he has his cell phone with him and that in one ear and raceceiver in the other, someone talks to him throughout the race. anyone else hear this, heard this last year. he is not the only driver that apparently does this, someone else who won last night does it to!

This is nothing new.
Drivers and their crews have been doing this for years.
It's not just Bolland.........

Kevin along with a couple others have been doing that for years. It cost Kevin a car in West Va. a couple years ago .

If he actually had anything like this and got caught with it, that's what they'll use as a vehicle to get him booted for the year so he can't beat the rap protesting over the wreck. A lot of people have had a hard on for Bolland for years, and they'll take any opportunity they get to get rid of him.

You get rid of Bolland things will be really boring. We need these controversies. I grew up watching krystiak and Blaney beat on each other night after night at mercer. Made it interesting. My gosh the arguements we used to get into. It was passion about our sport. Our heroes. No matter whose side you are on racing needs controversy. It fuels are fires. As evidence by the events on not just this post but last nights post on here also.

I have no doubt that a lot of guys do it. He was just dumb enough to get caught. I hope they make an example out of him.

Evidently they went to this (cell phone) after he was caught with a second receiver that was overheard by the safety crew a year or so ago.?

They got their channels screwed up and who ever was talking to Kevin spoke across the raceceiver channel. Not once but twice.

I think we've all been there, thought you were replying to the girlfriend and accidently send it to the wife, sumbitch, fun while it lasts, but sucks when you get caught!

The whole radio thing is illegal, but in the end, what does it really improve for the driver? He knows where second place is running? Cool, we give hand signals out all the time to drivers, same thing. He knows which line is faster, you can tell a driver that by a hand signal also. People use glowsticks or those lights that land aircrafts to signal how far away the next driver is or where to run the next line.
At ppms they used to be allowed in the late model division, and to me they were just an extra expense to the raceteam, and I am sure in some circumstances caused crashes because of miscommunication. So in my mind, I think the rough driving (or lack there of, whichever side you are on) is the more serious of the two evils, because radios, ehhh who cares, whats he gaining?

You dont think it would be a huge advantage to have constant communication the whole way around the track instead of the split second you have, under green, to look at someone trying to give you hand signals. There is alot going on in the car lap to lap. Just maybe, Kevin couldn't hear Keith and looked up in the pitts for his hand signal! While he was looking, he forgot that he was in the middle of three and four and went straight up the track into the left rear of Swartzlander. If the 83 was not there, bolland would have gone straight into the retaining wall coming out of the pitts looking for his fricking hand signals. Get real!

The real story is Kevin went up high because he was getting hungry and wanted to see if the pit concession stand had closed for the night. While doing that he lost sight on the 83 car and just ran into his quarter panel. He even offered to buy 83 a action track snack after the race, but heard round robin had closed the place down before the first feature for the night!

brian44 you are so right. nascar was best when it had rivalrys. old number 3 won a lof of races moving people out of the way. him and dw had some great fueds. back in the day my cousin loved blakie watt and i did not. it was great. blackie although a great driver also created controversy. the steve peles fans and glenn gault fans use to go at it. i agree you should not cheat to win but i love the rivalrys.

I suppose I am an asshole then, and so are all the WoO drivers who have crew members give them signals every lap during a feature. I still see how it would have any significant impact on a dirt race having a radio... It isnt like they have lap traffic to deal with every lap, or that the radio can help steer the car.
And no the 777 would not have went "straight into the retaining wall" his wheels were turned to the left, I still believe it was a racing incident.

Even if his wheels were turned left doesn't he know how to let off the gas or apply the brakes if he is obviously going to run into somebody. Brian did when Bolland pulled what was going to be on unsuccessful slide job on him if he hadn't hit the brakes to keep Kevin's rear from taking the front of his car out in 1 & 2 earlier.

Signman Ed, I should have worded that differently. It was generally krystiak.However, because it was a rivalry there were times when even The greatest driver of all time lost his temper. I can recall at Mercer one night krystiak taking Lou out in four. Lou came around and cranked him. My only point was, we loved to hate krystiak. We loved to love blaney. It drew me to the track as a young boy and has fueled my life with the love of racing I have today. It draws me to the track to watch or race every week. With flinner gone, there are no more rivalries. Bolland and swartzslammer are all thats left. What rivalries will fuel my daughters passion for the sport. (although I hope it is not a rivalry I have with a few guys out there.) If this sport is going to survive, "boys have at it" is what will bring people back.
