Hesston is cancelled for today and rescheduled for Sunday, August 12. We are cancelling in time to save everyone unnecessary spent fuel cost and time today and to keep people from traveling in the impending severe weather coming later today from the west. Stay safe today and see you next Sunday for Revolution and the Ron Strait Championships. http://www.hesstonspeedway.com

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“Revolution” Rescheduled for 3rd Time for August 12 at Hesston!

(Hesston, PA) Oncoming severe weather forced Hesston Speedway to once again reschedule “Revolution” and the “Ron Strait Championships” for a 3rd time. This massive $35,000 even will now be held on Sunday night, August 12.

“Revolution” will feature the most powerful 2 late model divisions in the region, with the Speedmonster/3 State Flyers Super Late Models paying $5,100 to win, $400 to start and $200 for non-qualifiers PLUS a $75 Frankland Racing Supply card to positions 9-24 and all non-qualifiers. This boosts the total cash/prizes in the Super Late Models to $475 to start and $275 for non-qualifiers. The S³/3SF Super Late Models will compete in a full racing program with a 55-lap championship feature.

Hesston is one of the few tracks where Late Model fans get to see thes top 2 late model divisions race in championship events for one low ticket price! The ultra-competitive Semi-Late Model Sportsman will also be in action in a full racing program. This class combines limited late models, steel block late models and crate late models with weigh and spoiler variances. The Semi-Late Model Sportsman will compete in a full racing program with a 30-lap championship paying $1,100 to win, $150 to start and $100 for non-qualifiers. Frankland will also boost the total prizes for this class with $75 cards to positions 4-25 and all non-qualifiers. This brings the total cash/prizes to $225 to start and $175 for non-qualifiers.

The Semi-Late Model Sportsman crate motor challenge is still in effect. The 1st crate motor car with a top-5 finish will receive a $400 bonus in addition to feature prize money.

Frankland Racing Supply is located in Valencia, PA. Frankland specializes in the most stable, reliable, dependable quick-change rear ends in the racing industry. Frankland features high-quality service and prefers American-made parts to make sure that Frankland drivers race to the finish! More information may be found at franklandracing.com or by contacting them at 888-873-2736 or 724-898-2111.

Every position in every class in competition will receive increased payoff. A-Cadets (street/pro-stock) will also compete in a full racing program for an increased payoff of $700 to win and $90 to start Non-qualifiers will receive $60. The A-Cadet feature will run no time limit on the race.

Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home in Broad Top City, PA will be sponsoring hard-charger awards at this event. The hard charger will receive $100 in Semi-Late Model Sportsman, $75 for A-Cadet, $50 for Hobby-Modified and $25 for Roadrunner.

Roadrunners (fwd stock 4-cylinder) will race for $222 to win and $45 to start. The Hobby-Modifieds (pure stock/strictkly stock charger) will compete for an increased payoff of $500 to win and $50 to start, sponsored by Bedford County Tree & Lawn Solutions of Everett, PA. These 2 divisions will compete in extended lap, championship feature-only formats.

Nick Dickson of Lewistown, PA stunned the record crowd at the 1st Speedmonster Super Late Model event this season by winning from the 24th restating position, in a race where the top 9 advanced 58 positions. Dickson and Gregg Satterlee of Rochester Mills, PA currently are tied for the lead in the Speedmonster Super Series championship, which pays $2,000 to the champion from a $5,000 point bonue fund. Satterlee is also leading 3 State Flyer points after claiming a win at Natural Bridge Speedway last weekend. Jeff Rine and Jeremy Miller both have Super Late Model wins at Hesston in 2011 and sit 3rd and 4th in Speedmonster points with Mike Lupfer rounding out the top 5.

Rick Singleton of Huntingdon, PA was the Semi-Late Model Sportsman championship feature winner and currently leads track points. Khi Swanger of Huntingdon, PA won the A-Cadet championship feature. Rick Potter of Everett, PA came home the winner in the Hobby—Modifieds. Adam Pletcher of Johnstown, PA started 20th on the grid and roared forward to win in the Roadrunners.

All 5 divisions will be competing in “Revolution/Ron Strait Championship”, with feature-only, extended-lap formats for the Hobby-Modifieds and Roadrunners. The Super Late Model feature will be 2nd in rotation, with only necessary races in between sets of Super Late Model races to give those teams enough time to work on their cars. The remaining 3 features will be run after the Super Late Models.

With a Sunday race date, the schedule of events will move forward. All classes will have warm-ups. A-Cadets will run without a time limit at this event since their last 2 championship races saw the time limit expire. The A-Cadets will be 1 of the features after the Super Late Models

It rained at Hesston tonight which would have been during race time. The main concern today was the the severe storm warnings that were forecast this morning by the national weather service and the oncoming weather on the radar. We wanted to keep fans and race teams from wasting their fuel and from traveling in that kind of possible weather. That is why it was cancelled early, before anyone got on the road. We have one more shot at this race next Sunday. The weather has to cooperate eventually!

In light of the tragedy of Pocono Raceway; I commend the early cancellation, secondly, if you cancel for no other reason than a business decision, to protect your interest, and to ensure financial viability, I can accept that as well. As race teams we need tracks around for the long haul, and every one of us has seen a promoter race on an iffy weather day and take an absolute financial bath. best wishes and god willing we will see you on Sunday.
