BUSY AUGUST STRETCH FOR FASTRAK NE LATE MODEL SERIES CONTINUES THURSDAY AT MCKEAN AS PART OF 107TH ANNUAL FAIR

(East Smethport, PA)…After a three-week break, the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Pace Performance FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series is amidst a busy eight-day period that includes three events and four features! After Saturday’s inaugural visit to Black Rock Speedway, the Series has another northern event this Thursday (August 16) at McKean County Raceway. Race time is 7:30 p.m.
Thursday’s event will mark Race #17 of 25 on the record-setting slate of events, and for the second straight year will be part of the McKean County Fair, which is in its 107th year! Following Thursday’s 25-lap $1,200 to-win show, the Series will head to Ohio at for two events at Sharon Speedway. The May 27 $1,500 to-win make-up event will get action underway early at 6:30 p.m. followed by another new $1,500 to-win show as part of the inaugural “Manufacturers Night,” which will award over $22.000 in prizes!
“It’s awesome to be able to be featured in McKean’s Fair race,” stated sixth year Northeast Co-Director Vicki Emig. “It’s always fun and nostalgic to race during a fair. We’ve always wanted to be part of this event and we’re thrilled to get to participate last year for the first time. We’re sure excited to be returning this year as we really have to thank Tom Gleason and the rest of the fair board for making this possible.”
Earlier this year, McKean hosted the 80th race in the history of the Series, now Thursday’s event will mark the milestone 90th! McKean has been the site of a record 13 Northeast Touring Series events with an amazing 11 different winners! Mike Pegher, Jr. and John Lacki have been the only racers to repeat to date, while Todd Andrews, Max Blair, Kyle Drum, Butch Lambert, Robbie Blair, Steve Dixon, Josh Holtgraver, Wayne Robertson, and Ryan Montgomery have recorded single victories.
Holtgraver is the defending Fair event winner. A the July 5 Original Pizza Logs Speedweek event, a McKean record 49 cars turned out- just three shy of the all-time high of 52 cars at Tyler County Speedway.
At Black Rock on Saturday, Wayne Robertson became the Series’ ninth different winner of the season. Blair had jumped out to a fast start winning five of the first six events, but has since cooled off with only two wins in the last 10 races. The Centerville, Pa. three-time champion has a comfortable 62-point lead over Chad Ruhlman, who has just a seven-point advantage on Pegher.
Montgomery, who won the first Tour race this season at McKean holds down the fourth spot by only eight over Dan Angelicchio. Angelicchio has 11 top 10s in 14 starts this season including four runner-up placings, but has still yet to add to last year’s first two career Tour wins. Completing the top 10 in points are John Over, Butch Lambert, Will Thomas III, Matt Latta, and Shane Weaver.
The “Wheelman” Bonus Event Challenge Series for non-qualifiers will be held in addition, if necessary. Jason Genco (two), Louie Krushansky, Bob Dorman, Junior Peters, Kyle Wiser, Joel Prosser, Jamie Brown, Bobby Pifer, Craig Dean have picked up the non-qualifier wins to date, while W.L. Stile leads the points. An amazing 24 different drivers have scored victories in the 30 races run all-time.
Of course all of the great contingency programs will be in full force. Besides the K&N “Cold Air Induction Dash” and fan giveaway, the Brake Man “Tough Brake of the Night”, Genesis Shocks “Top Dog of the Night”, Precise Racing Products “Pedal Down” Hard Charger, and the Utsinger’s Towing Hoosier Tire Giveaway will also take place.
There have been 89 Northeast Touring Series races contested with 34 different winners all-time. Max Blair leads nemesis Mike Pegher, Jr. 19 to 14 followed by Dick Barton, Bobby Powell, John Lacki, and David Scott with four, Steve Dixon, Josh Holtgraver and Joe Martin at three, Alan Dellinger, Dan Angelicchio, Robbie Blair, Ryan Montgomery, Will Thomas III, and Wayne Robertson with two, and Todd Andrews, Kyle Drum, Frank Guidace, Butch Lambert, Carl McKinney, Dennis Lunger, Jr., Tom Snyder, Jr., Chris Meadows, Jim Frank, Mike Blose, Jonathan Davenport, Gary Knollinger, Dusty Hamrick, Bud Watson, Russell King, George Kowatic, Chad Ruhlman, Matt Latta & Sammy Stile with one victory.
