The "Sizzling" September racing action at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway will kick of this Saturday, September 1
st, as we present the 23
rd Annual Jook George Memorial Classic, showcasing the stars of the Brougher's Machine Shop Pro-Late Division. A complete program for the Super Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Hobby Stocks and Young Guns will complete the evening's racing card.
"Jook started this event in 1990 to showcase the Pro-Late teams and we are proud to continue the event in his memory," stated Speedway Owner Matt Miley. "Jook loved the sport of auto racing and we at PPMS would like to instill that love of the sport into today's fans. In addition, he was a very caring individual who loved children and his family will once again be providing door prizes for many of the children in attendance this week."
Saturday's 40 lap main event will reward the winner with a $2,012.00 paycheck. A maximum of 32 cars will start the feature event with 32
nd position paying $100.00. Winner's Circle Motorsports, LLC has also obtained product sponsorship certificates which will be distributed to the competitors in the Jook George Memorial Classic.
There will also be a $75.00 entry fee for the Pro-Late teams this weekend with 100% of the monies being returned to the divisional purse.
The Jook George Family, wife Patty and children Jook, Jr. and Dana, will also be in attendance to honor the family patriarch as well as to continue his tradition of providing the children in attendance with a variety of door prizes. "Jook and I had our first few dates at Heidelberg Speedway back in 1966," stated Jook's wife, Patty, and his love of auto racing also became our love. This is our opportunity to spread his kindness and generosity to another generation of racing fans."
Mike Pegher, Jr. scored this win in last year's event. The Wexford driver has picked up four victories at "Dirt's Monster Half Mile" thus far in 2012 and will definitely be looking to add to that total on Saturday. Other multi time winners at the speedway this season include Andrew Satterlee (3) and Kyle Lukon and Tommy Schirnhofer who have each secured two wins. Past winners of the Jook George Classic include Mike Johnson, Dave Wade, Brandon Burgoon, Dan Angelicchio and Jim Stephans.
This Saturday's racing action will also be the final night for the 2012 points battles. At the present time third generation racer Michael Norris holds a slim lead over Alex Ferree in the Super Late Model title chase. Defending Pro-Late titlist Colton Flinner is battling Kyle Lukon for the Pro-Late crown and Young Guns drivers Logan Crewl and Todd Weldon will also decide their fates this weekend. Jake Simmons appears to have the Sportsman title wrapped up and Joe Podolinsky sits atop the Hobby Stock standings.
Pit and Grandstand Admission gates for this Saturday's racing action will open at 5:00 with the first green flag waving promptly at 7:00PM.
Adult Grandstand Admission for Saturday September 1st is $15.00. Seniors, Ages 60 and Over, are admitted for $14.00 with Juniors, Ages 13 to 16, priced at $9.00. Admission for Children aged Six through 12 is $5.00 and Children Under Age Six will be admitted Free. In addition, all children aged Six through 12 will receive a free gift when they present their admission ticket at the PPMS Gift Shop, which now features Apparel by Denise.
Pit Admission for this week's racing action is $35.00.
Don't forget that "Monster Truck Mayhem" will invade on Saturday, September 8th as "Bad Habit", the Guinness World record holding monster truck jumper, will return. In addition his gang of his friends and enemies that include Backdraft, Eradacator, Rap Attack, Screamin Demon, and Rat Rod will also be in action for our First Ever "Full Blown" Monster Truck Show!! The evening's action will include Spectator Drags and the always popular Monster Mania Figure Eight event. In 2012, the management of Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway will utilize a Sunday evening rain date in the event Mother Nature fails to cooperate with the Saturday night racing action. Times for the Sunday rain dates are as follows: Pit and Grandstand Admission Gates open at 4:00PM, Hot Laps at 5:00PM and Racing at 6:00PM.
Fans are also invited to bring their own refreshments however; glass bottles and alcoholic beverages are not permitted. In addition, coolers are limited to 14 inches or smaller in size. Don't forget that the Checkered Flag Food Court has a great variety of delicious food like hot and juicy quarter pound cheeseburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, curly fries, cheese sticks and cotton candy at "fan friendly prices."
Race fans over the age of 21 can purchase alcoholic beverages at Ed's Pub, which is located under the main grandstand. Ed's features all major brands of beer plus wine, mixed drinks, and energy drinks at local tavern type pricing! In addition, coolers are limited to 14 inches or smaller.
