Join us at PPMS for the inaugural Ed Laboon 17 this Sat!

Then the JOOK George Sept 1!

Nice that the RMR, EL 17, & JG 40 honor some great guys, sad that we lost them so early. At least we have these events to reflect back on these special people in racing.

Still lots of great racing left at PPMS in 2012. A little racing break Sept 8 with the inaugural Monster Truck Show, then it's Tri Star Pittsburgher time! - UFo Supers, 410 Winged Sprints, BRP mods, PPMS Pro Lates, & Sportsman! Qualifying events on Friday, features on Saturday. NIGHT racing at 7PM BOTH NIGHTS!

$7000 for the UFo SLM feature!

$3000 for the 21 lap 410 Winged Sprint Feature

$3000 for the BRP 30 lap Mod feature!

Will Colton Flinner not be teched at inspection at this race just like he wasn't this previous Saturday? Or was Colton being waved by at inspection part of the Flinner clan's punishment?

The top 5 Crates will be teched per the request of Kyle Lukon. I personally called my tech guys over and asked for it based on Kyles request right in front of him and his team, he is my witness. Our goal is that we tech until racers are sick of tech, I'll try to follow through on this.

Colton being waved off was my fault, I was trying to back up Kyle so we could keep the show moving by getting the winner on the scales first but Kyle insisted to go on the scales before the winner as he had to race his Late Model. I need to get my priorities straight and try to do better, that will be my goal in the coming weeks. Sooner or later I'll get it right. As I have said many times on this forum. We may fail, we will not fail to try. IMO our staff is doing a great job in 2012, but that's just my opinion.

Sooner or later everyone is going to realize we are in this racing game together. There are no conspiracies, we don't stay awake at night thinking how we are going to screw the next racer so they never want to race at our track again. No Miley's wear a headset or make any decisions on the racing action occurring on the racetrack. Our staff is the best and has no reason to pick on someone, their pay is the same no matter who wins!

After 44 seasons racing, 24 running PPMS, we have learned a few things, but there is always room for improvement...for everybody!

What I really wanted to post, another great night of racing honoring one of the most generous racers in our era. He set up many drivers and always took care of the kids!

Winnerscircle Motorsports has stepped up and found some contingency sponsors ove and above the purse. Thank You.

This is a Sizzler Race and is the final weekly PPMS point weekend for all divisions at PPMS. Will state now for the record, if we lose the weekend to weather, points are fnal, no conspiracy, we will use our business as usual policy this weekend. We hae started using Entry fees again as our purses are being compared to others who charge entry fees for these type of events. This is a PPMS purse, no purse money sponsors. If the majority of PPMS Cate Racers don't want to run big money races they all need to speak up to mmiley99@comcast.net . With bigger events come a bigger price tag. We feel all divisions should have thier turn in the limelight, but it comes a a price. It would have been easy to leave the race at $1000 and no entry fee, but we chose to keep the tradition of some extra laps and $2012 to win which mandated the $75 entry fee. We apologize for any inconvenience this the late decision may have caused folks. Our webmater has been dealing with some ather issues and our website info is lagging behind. We plan to update the technology on that in the off season so those of us who are website update challenge can change it! Jook George Fall Classic 40, $75 entry fee Jook George 40 laps 1* $2,012 2 $900 3 $700 4 $500 5 $325 6 $300 7 $275 8 $250 9 $225 10 $200 11 $190 12 $180 13 $170 14 $160 15 $150 16 $150 17 $150 18 $150 19 $150 20 $150 21 $100 22 $100 23 $100 24 $100 25 $100 26 $100 27 $100 28 $100 29 $100 30 $100 31 $100 32 $100 Tow money is also $100, effectively giving any racer who does not want a shot at racing for the $2012 to put it on the trailer and collect the $100. In my era we always welcomed the chance to race our way into the money, PPMS allows for that by starting at least 32 cars. If you show up at PPMS, most times you will get to race the feature!

Matt I know im the least favorite of your loyal supporters but please explain why not just deduct 75x the expected number of cars from the purse ??? How does taking someones money and giving it back make an ounce of sense ??? Why not just make it 500 to start with a 475 entry fee ?? or a 1000 to start with a 975 entry fee ?? Dont misunderstand im not suggesting you eliminate the entry fee and pay the purse anyway im suggesting you eliminate the entry fee and drop the purse by the same amount.. everything is even in the end and you have less people pissed at you. You make this claim everyone is " in this together" so why dont you ask the racers to vote if they would rather give you 75 then get an extra 75 or not give you 75 and not get 75 ?? Im sincerly asking this question, if there is some reason im missing please enlighten me

I asked a question in another topic...... but it seems to been sort of answered on this topic...... now I'm a little conffused........start money is different than "tow" money....... TOW MONEY is for cars that FAIL to qualify ...... hence the money is used to tow the car back home..... START MONEY is for the cars that DID qualify and are RACING IN THE FEATURE.. shouldn't be 100 dollars from 20th back. And SECONDLY why are some of the SIZZLER RACES regular points also and others are not? I don't see ANY REASON for some to be & some are not. I mean, what is the deciding factor in that decision? Maybe let EVERYONE know beforehand , if it is or isn't ......... lol.

Let's see here, pay $75, get 100 back... sounds great, till you think about it for a second... 5 years ago, stocks were getting $35 to start/ tow. I think I would park my ride, it's a slap in the face!

The "Sizzling" September racing action at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway will kick of this Saturday, September 1st, as we present the 23rd Annual Jook George Memorial Classic, showcasing the stars of the Brougher's Machine Shop Pro-Late Division. A complete program for the Super Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Hobby Stocks and Young Guns will complete the evening's racing card.

"Jook started this event in 1990 to showcase the Pro-Late teams and we are proud to continue the event in his memory," stated Speedway Owner Matt Miley. "Jook loved the sport of auto racing and we at PPMS would like to instill that love of the sport into today's fans. In addition, he was a very caring individual who loved children and his family will once again be providing door prizes for many of the children in attendance this week."

Saturday's 40 lap main event will reward the winner with a $2,012.00 paycheck. A maximum of 32 cars will start the feature event with 32nd position paying $100.00. Winner's Circle Motorsports, LLC has also obtained product sponsorship certificates which will be distributed to the competitors in the Jook George Memorial Classic.

There will also be a $75.00 entry fee for the Pro-Late teams this weekend with 100% of the monies being returned to the divisional purse.

The Jook George Family, wife Patty and children Jook, Jr. and Dana, will also be in attendance to honor the family patriarch as well as to continue his tradition of providing the children in attendance with a variety of door prizes. "Jook and I had our first few dates at Heidelberg Speedway back in 1966," stated Jook's wife, Patty, and his love of auto racing also became our love. This is our opportunity to spread his kindness and generosity to another generation of racing fans."

Mike Pegher, Jr. scored this win in last year's event. The Wexford driver has picked up four victories at "Dirt's Monster Half Mile" thus far in 2012 and will definitely be looking to add to that total on Saturday. Other multi time winners at the speedway this season include Andrew Satterlee (3) and Kyle Lukon and Tommy Schirnhofer who have each secured two wins. Past winners of the Jook George Classic include Mike Johnson, Dave Wade, Brandon Burgoon, Dan Angelicchio and Jim Stephans.

This Saturday's racing action will also be the final night for the 2012 points battles. At the present time third generation racer Michael Norris holds a slim lead over Alex Ferree in the Super Late Model title chase. Defending Pro-Late titlist Colton Flinner is battling Kyle Lukon for the Pro-Late crown and Young Guns drivers Logan Crewl and Todd Weldon will also decide their fates this weekend. Jake Simmons appears to have the Sportsman title wrapped up and Joe Podolinsky sits atop the Hobby Stock standings.

I agree that the entry fee is high and doesnt make sense, but then I think about it as, its racing. Shouldnt everyone be worried about racing into where the money is more than just start money? Yeah start/tow money is important, but why go to a race and only look to make that and not worry about anything else? The world 100 has one of the worst purses around as does the dream 100, but 120 cars dont show up racing for tow money. They go for the prestige, the honor, as well as possibly making bigger money. Ya ya i know, you cant compare eldora to ppms or anywhere, but in actuality it is not much different. The Jook George race was always a special race in terms of honoring a great man and showcasing the division. Before this year there was not much extra money added at all except when someone took it into their own hands to raise money and boost the purse, great people like the lukons and Bonnie Lepro. So if you think about it, people were donating money possibly 75 dollars then to race, and that wasnt technically an entry fee, but it was the same exact thing. If you dont wanna race cause of the entry fee dont race. I never got to watch Jook George or meet him, but I raced in one and if I had a car I would feel honored to race under a banner of his name, just as everyone enjoyed racing for Ed Laboon and Red Miley.
