Just asking if there is a reason that Mercer is watering the track on the bottom and making it a muddy mess, they are taking away a racing groove, and it happens every week anymore. Just asking if there is a reason, cause im missing something.

Best answer is gravity. Water runs downhill and when you water the track as much as they do to give us a nice track at some point the bottom is gonna end up being the wettest part of the track. The bottom was wet last nite but only a half a car width wide. I like the bottom groove of the track and use it as much or more than most and didn't see a problem with it for the feature. Havent been down there but have heard that place is dry and slick. Cant complain about Mercer cause they bust their tails to give us a good track. Once in a while it might be off but usually a nice surface. Not an easy thing to do or cheap.They attended a race at ppms.

Was out on the track for the kids bike races and I have to tell you that surface was very nice. You would leave foot prints in the clay just walking on it. Also the 360 guys not running there on a regular basis ran about middle of the track compared to the 410 guys that have run there all year long they usually run the bottom. The track would of been really fast if they would of got it in. Hats off to the crew on the track prep, it is one of the only tracks that take there time in preping it. Can't wait for Lil Guy Nats!

What i am referring to is the water truck was in the infield spraying directly on the bottom. The track crew does an awesome job weekly but it seems lately they want the lower groove not be a factor.

I dont know but maybe they are trying to make the racing better. everyone wants to run the bottom and maybe they are trying to get the guys off the bottom of the track. JMO

Great answer Mercer gives the best surface most of the time They need one of those tillers to help out some but all in all theybust but I DID NOT SEE THEM WATER THE BOTTOM BTWI dont know but maybe they are trying to make the racing better. everyone wants to run the bottom and maybe they are trying to get the guys off the bottom of the track. JMO

Again it is about choices ,it could be a steel guard rail to keep cars out of the infield or just just a wet spot I really have no answer only some thoughts about which is best.

I definitely agree they are one of the best track crews around, but also think they are trying to keep cars off the bottom in turn 3 and 4. I guess they have a reason for it.

They usually just water up on the start to the infield to keep the dust down when cars get a tire up in there. The water just tends to lie where the track and infield come together.

They don't water the track but do water the infield in turn 3 & 4. It keeps cars out of the infield and off the big tires. If the track was over watered as stated why is the inside so good in double file restarts?

If they dont get the bottom line so wet that it is basically a mud hole by feature time there is nothing left. They do a great job prepping the track and there is almost always a line thru the bottom cause it holds moisture. The middle will slick off a bit and usually it will have a line up top. Gives you 2 or 3 lines of racing. Sometimes and it is rare we end up with one. The mrp race was awful but I think a week off then 2 bailouts caused the track to be very loose and grainy from being worked and not packed in from racing. Just one of them things. And yes being theshortest line around the track helps the bottom line too.They don't water the track but do water the infield in turn 3 & 4. It keeps cars out of the infield and off the big tires. PPMS used to be nasty dry slick like that. Last couple years it's been great.
He was referring to their proclivity for watering the piss out of the lowest groove during the night's racing. It generally makes the extreme bottom useless because it's so sloppy.
