I will have to say thats is the last time I drag my wife to Mercer. She was right when she said that that place is a craphole. I have went to the Little Guys every year. I will not be back. I can under stand the rain. But the track crew must have forgotten how to run the place. After a few heats you have to stop to fix the track for an hour? I will say that Mercer has gone down hill.

I understand th it took a while but you have to give that place credit for attempting and succeding to make the track a little more racable. I would rather take the time to keep the dust down than for everyone to go home with torn up racecars. What i didnt understand was why the track was throwing so much dust early on Saturday and sunday. It was fast and racable on friday. Maybe the wear and tear got to it...?

Maybe instead of going to Mercer on Saturday Nights you could stay home and brush up on your grammar!

With the threat of rain as high as it was and the weatherman being right for a change they had to pound it tight and seal it up or we would have never been able to get the race in. Think you saw once they lucked the track and ran it in it stayed heavy all nite. If they had do.e that early then had gotten the rain we did it would ha e been all over for the weekend. They did a good job with what mother nature threw at them. Track was fantastic Friday nite!

This racing fan thought the track was ok friday. I wasn't there saturday but sunday after it dusted up terribly the water truck and then the rain took care of it. The only thing that made me not stay till the end and made it not so much fun, was only having two tow trucks. After the obvious need for more on friday, I don't know why they didn't have additional tow trucks on sunday. Having to wait so long for miss haps to get cleaned up sure screwed up the show for this fan and other fans I talked with. I'd bet what they would have saved on electricity for the extended show time, would have paid for additional tow trucks. If it's the only show around, i'll be back next year, but only if there's no place reasonably close. And it sure was fun watching Jim Morris get around so well in the limited's. Friday he was so loose he just went backwards. I saw the new RR tire on sunday and wonder if it along with better grip from the track is what did it? Or was it something he did with setup or something with driving or both? It just always amazes me how someone can go from slow to fast over night. I guess that's what makes this racing thing fun and hard at the same time.

How about Friday when they tried starting 22 Micros instead of 24 when there was 37 there? How about them giving the wrong pay to the wrong person, more than once!? The one was given to a car that didn't even make the feature and another was th $1,500 mod-lite winner. They dicked everybody around at the pay-out window for at least an hour and 15 minutes on Sunday just trying to find the mod-lite winners money. And what about the officals getting in peoples faces screaming and yelling, when the other people were talking fine? There was one point on Saturday I watched an offical pull back to swing! The track has definitely gone down hill.

Don't know about the payout so I cant comment on that. They have had staffing changes and when that happens their are bound to have issues. They have all winter to get things ironed out.

I definately give Mercer credit for sticking it out through the weather and getting the show in with a decent surface to race on. With that said I do think they need to change a couple of things for next year. 1. When it rains and the track needs run in, do NOT demand that the drivers run it in or they get put to the rear of the field for the start of the feature if you don't go out on the track. Enough guys are going to do it without threating teams, maybe ask for volunteers first. 2. Get the Black Flag ironed out. It was rediculous how many laps were run under caution in the Mod feature on Sunday night. Alot of guys were driving over their heads and using other guys up and nothing gets done about it. 3. We are there for a two day show. It doesn't literally need to be two days. Nobody wants to watch hour long features. When a caution comes out and it's time to get lined up, the field does about 5 or 6 caution laps waiting for guys to get in the right spot for the restart. Really??? What the hell are the raceceivers for? The Flagman/Officials need to take better control of what's happening on the track. Start black flagging and stop scoring these guys who cannot understand the English language when spoken over their radios and it will stop. Just My Two Cents.

I would hope that there is some procedure in place to verify the identity of the person picking up the money at the payout window to ever prevent this from happening again. And an official getting ready to take a swing at someone is just too funny!! :)

I've been going to the Little Guy Nationals for quite some now and have raced in them.My only complaint is why call it the Little Guy National (thats supposed to be for stock cars),yet screw them and have them run in the orders they ran,I know they need time to get cars ready for the next race ,but have a small intermission,so racers can get there cars ready, pit crews can go get stuff, fans in the stands can go get food, stretch, bathroom break without missing there favorite drivers. Its supposed to be a show for stock cars, there was way to many classes running this weekend in my eye. It should be stock cars and 2 support classes and be done.People travel a good distance to come race, camp, help etc......

I thought it was a show for different "support" divisions, not just the Street Stocks. Otherwise, they would have called it Stock Nationals. True Street Stocks get the highest count but this race has always had extra money for different classes. Did they run the ones with less caution flags first?

Hey sterling, when did they try to start 22 on the micro feature. If anything they started too many. I counted 24 and then you. You would have been an alternate if someone would have scratched. No one did but you still started the feature in the 25th spot. I even saw the line up paper and the only 41 on it was the 41x of matt gardina.

They had 22 wrote down on the board for quite a while and when I asked why they weren't starting 24 cars when it was advertised that way the offical got in my face and jumped down my throat screaming at me and saying we only had 22 cars and blah blah blah. If we only had 22 cars why the hell did we have 2 b-mains? I started the feature beause I was told by the officals to go out and make a few laps and if I wasn't suppose to be out there they'd radio over the raceceiver to tell me to come off, which they never did.

I have been around race tracks a few years ,I think it is now about 70 give or rake a few and at every LGN they are always a cahallenge for both the racers and the track personnel I have seen the good the bad and the ugly but intend to be there or any other track that attempts to help the Little Guys. In the past I have been discouraged with many yhings at many tracks like a long delay at Daytona to repair a bad track how ever that was a situation the Promoters and track crew fixed, dirt ttracks are a little more unique and that has a lot to do with the envinroment. When Vicki envinsoned this event many years agoit was and has been a chance for The Little Guys TO have their day for the year and now Bill Altman has kept it alive and looks to keep it for a long time I can say congratulations to both owners for their efforts. One other aspect was when I saw the entire track filled with cars preparing a track for each other that reminded me of how raceing has stayed around so long,as I talked with many of the racers they expressed their like for M.R.P. that makes me proud to serve there for about 21 years dating back to Howard then Gary ,Vicki and now Bill I may not always have agreed with their decisions but have had enough respect for each one to be loyal to each one.. Dirt tracks make me happy even with all the little rough spots we must deal with and deal with them we will ,why because we are race fans The Best Fans in the world. It has amazed me for years that we will sit through a football game in the worst weather we can imagine and hardly ever blame the promoters of the crews for the weather. Dad always told me if you cant say something nice say nothing at all thanks Dad. Chaplain Bill

I couldn't agree more Bill!! Where's the like button? We truly are blessed to have such great people in the racing community and to have such a huge racing family because ultimately we are all there to enjoy the same passion for the sport.

I think the title should have been "Mercer what a great effort to get the races in!" Plain and simple! I commend Bill and the crew on how they ran the track.
