ROARING KNOB UP NEXT AS FASTRAK NE TOURING SERIES PART OF THE “BIG KAHUNA” By Mike Leone September 26, 2012 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Markleysburg, PA)…The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Pace Performance FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series busy fall stretch continues this weekend as action shifts south to the scenic Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex. The third of four stops during the 2012 season will be race #22 of the year at the Markleysburg, Pa. facility, which is near the Maryland and West Virginia borders. There will be practice Thursday night, qualifying events on Friday night with last chance races, features, and the non-qualifier on Saturday night. “It’s always fun to go to Roaring Knob,” expressed sixth year Northeast Co-Director Vicki Emig. “It’s a great facility, and Rick Jones is a big supporter of FASTRAK. He really stepped up his involvement this year with the big Super Nationals events at the beginning and end of the season in addition to allowing us to compete with the Lucas Oil Late Models and now part of his traditional “Big Kahuna”. While FASTRAK has been part of the “Fall Fest” weekend at Roaring Knob the last two seasons, this year’s event has been coupled with the “Big Kahuna”- a traditional event held in the past at Jones’ Allegany County Speedway. This year marks the first year that the $7,000 to-win Three State Flyers Super Late Model event has been held at Roaring Knob and the FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series is happy to be part of this big Late Model event. Seven Northeast Touring Series events have been run all-time at Roaring Knob with Mike Pegher, Jr. winning four of them! Pegher began a three race win streak on June 26, 2010 winning that event, the “Fall Fest” on October 8, 2010, and then the show with the Lucas Oil Late Models on April 30, 2011. Pegher also won this year’s event with Lucas Oil back in April. Bobby Powell won the inaugural Roaring Knob race on June 26, 2009. Robbie Blair captured the victory in last year’s event. Max Blair won his first Touring race at the opening Roaring Knob event as part of the “Super Nationals”. Max Blair is fresh of his record-setting 10th win of the season last Sunday at McKean County Raceway. The 22-year-old Centerville, Pa. driver is within mere points of locking up his fourth Northeast Tour title in five years! Blair has a commanding 101-point lead on Pegher. Pegher has actually only been beaten twice in Tour events at Roaring Knob as he tries to fend off Chad Ruhlman for runner-up in points. Pegher currently is up eight points on Ruhlman and if he can maintain his advantage over the last three events, it would be his third straight runner-up in points! Roaring Knob racers Ryan Montgomery and John Over will be anxious to compete at their home track this weekend. Both drivers are in their first full season on the Tour and are currently fourth and fifth in points respectively. Dan Angelicchio, Butch Lambert, Will Thomas III, Matt Latta, and Shane Weaver round out the top 10. The battle for positions 11-15 is tight as only 50 points separate current 11th point man Brad Kling from Jamie Brown, who currently is 16th. Friday’s program will include qualifying events leading up to Saturday’s B main(s) and 30-lap feature paying $2,000 to-win. The intent is to use the qualifying format with group qualifying on Friday providing the transponder system is up and running. The “Wheelman” Bonus Event Challenge Series for non-qualifiers will be held in addition on Saturday, if necessary. Jason Genco (two), Craig Dean (two), Louie Krushansky, Bob Dorman, Junior Peters, Kyle Wiser, Joel Prosser, Jamie Brown, Bobby Pifer, Nico Dabecco, and Justin Tatlow have picked up the non-qualifier wins to date, while W.L. Stile leads the points. An amazing 25 different drivers have scored victories in the 33 races run all-time. Of course all of the great contingency programs will be in full force. Besides the K&N “Cold Air Induction Dash”, The Brake Man “Tough Brake of the Night”, Genesis Shocks “Top Dog of the Night”, Precise Racing Products “Pedal Down” Hard Charger, and the Utsinger’s Towing Hoosier Tire Giveaway will also take place. Saturday has been selected as one of six K&N Cold Air Induction Systems fan giveaways! The system is valued up to $500 and is for use on personal vehicles. The last Cold Air Induction System giveaway will be at Lernerville Speedway’s “Steel City Stampede” on October 26-27. There have been 94 Northeast Touring Series races contested with 35 different winners all-time. Max Blair leads nemesis Mike Pegher, Jr. 22 to 15 followed by Dick Barton, Bobby Powell, John Lacki, and David Scott with four, Steve Dixon, Josh Holtgraver and Joe Martin at three, Alan Dellinger, Dan Angelicchio, Robbie Blair, Ryan Montgomery, Will Thomas III, and Wayne Robertson with two, and Todd Andrews, Kyle Drum, Frank Guidace, Butch Lambert, Carl McKinney, Dennis Lunger, Jr., Tom Snyder, Jr., Chris Meadows, Jim Frank, Mike Blose, Jonathan Davenport, Gary Knollinger, Dusty Hamrick, Bud Watson, Russell King, George Kowatic, Chad Ruhlman, Matt Latta, & Sammy Stile, and Chad Wright with one victory.
