According to Brian Carter CEO of WRG, they are now confident in their direction and race track ownership is no longer in their future. They are trying to sell off Rollong Wheels and Cayuga County, they would still have deeds to Volusia County and Lernerville Speedway in Sarver.
WRG tried unsuccessfully to lease Volusia for 11 months of the year but keeping the profitable Feb Speedweeks dates. WRG is now happy to keep the facility closed all year but ready for their highly successful Feb promotions where there is racing every day.
Regarding Lenerville, Carter said the company would be interested in selling the property for the right price to the right buyer.
He feels the weekly race track promotions work best when the owner is from the area around the speedway.

Too bad Don Martin can't come down and buy the place back again!!....AMEN!!!!!!!!!!I don't think there is much new info here. Brian Carter is just repeating what had been heard from the World Racing Group before!! The WRG has learned that is easier to make money from promoting a series like the WoO Sprints and Late Models, than it is running race tracks. Too bad Don Martin can't come down and buy the place back again!!

Seriously though, I have a feeling somebody rather important in racing will buy it. As far as weekly racing goes, the place is something of a goldmine compared most. It would be one of the more solid investments in track ownership, provided they keep a working relationship with WRG open so the Firecracker and Silver Cup still exist.

I would hate to see it happen, but the land alone is more valuable than a race track. Buffalo Township is a desired place to be. Hopefully they pay their property taxes. I would hate to see it sold to Target or a housing development.Cue Tony Stewart rumors...

The land isn't worth as much as one would think. It would take millions to clean up the land so it meets EPA regulations before it could be developed for any other reason. If the economy was in much better shape and people were actually buying houses and other stuff, then yes, that would be a concern. Right now, though, I wouldn't worry about it so much.

Now is the time for all the would be experts to step up and show everyone how smart they really are.
If I had a spare $3.5 to $4 Mil in my bank account pal, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
The place is a proven money maker. I havn't always agreed with what WRG has done, but they've managed to keep the place running on Fridays with the same divisions since they've owned it.
From what I understand without going in to details, there is more that the EPA would be concerned with on that property than just the cleanup of a 45 year old continuously operating race track. Things were disposed of differently back in the day, if you get my drift.
I feel pretty confidant that WRG would have the brains to sell to an entity that would want the race track there. It would only hurt their bottom line by losing a venue that has hosted WoO events long before they ever owned the brand. If this area was to lose this track, the quality of racing in this area would go in to a downward spiral quicker than it has over the last ten years. This region needs this track to stay open. Of that I am sure.

Yeah, I'd do it in a second too if I had that kind of money.
I am also confident that WRG would only sell to somebody with racing interests. That's what the stipulations have been with the sale of Weedsport and Rolling Wheels. Not only are they looking for somebody with racing interests for those tracks, they're also looking for somebody who would keep hosting WRG events at the tracks. Supposedly, Jeff Brownell Sr. (Matt Sheppard's car owner) is buying the NY tracks, but they're keeping it on the hush hush until all the Ts are crossed and Is are dotted.
Remember the rumors on here that Bryan Force was trying to buy Challenger? Maybe he should look into buying Lernerville. It would be a far more solid investment than Challenger if he's looking to get into track ownership.

I remember my Dad telling me that there was an amusement park at Lernerville. I know there was a skating rink, but never knew it was a dumping site. There are other well known dumping sites in the township, that have been linked to cancer. Never heard that about Lernerville, but I guess anything is possible. If I had a spare $3.5 to $4 Mil in my bank account pal, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I racetrack is just like a race car. you can make a small fortune at it, but you have to start with a big one! I think i would enjoy my 3 - 4 million, instead of having people ripping me a new ass every day for being a greedy no good SOB!If I had a spare $3.5 to $4 Mil in my bank account pal, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
