ROARING KNOB SET TO HOST “SUPER NATIONALS II” THIS WEEKEND FOR FASTRAK NE LATE MODEL TOUR FEATURING $3000 TO-WIN A, $1200 TO-WIN B & $500 TO-WIN C FEATURES By Mike Leone October 16, 2012 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Markleysburg, PA)…After three weeks since the last event, the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Pace Performance FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series will resume action this weekend at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex. The “Super Nationals II” will mark the next to last event on the 2012 slate, which will conclude the following weekend (October 26-27) at Lernerville Speedway for the “Steel City Stampede”. This weekend will mark race #23 with qualifying, heat races, and the Pace Performance “Futures Cup” Trifecta Race #3 on Friday night followed by the K&N “Cold Air Induction” Dash, last chance B mains, the $3,000 to-win A feature, $1,200 to-win B feature, and a $500 to-win C feature, if necessary on Saturday night. The B feature for the first 24 non-qualifiers features a regular $1,200 to-win Northeast Touring payoff with $150 to-start. The two-part “Super Nationals,” a new idea brainstormed and developed between Northeast Directors Vicki Emig and Mike Leone and Roaring Knob owner/promoter Rick Jones, and was announced at the end of January. “Super Nationals I” became the earliest event ever contested by the Northeast Touring Series on March 31-April 1. “Rick Jones has certainly become a great partner with FASTRAK Northeast,” stated sixth year Northeast Co-Director Vicki Emig. He really stepped up his involvement this season hosting Part I and II of this inaugural Super Nationals concept. It’s pretty awesome that 48 drivers get into a feature and get to race for strong Touring payouts.” Despite the early date and less than desirable weather conditions, a Roaring Knob record 47 cars from five states plus Canada participated! Each racer got to compete in a feature event with the 24 going to the $3,000 to-win A feature, and the remainder of the field to the $1,200 to-win B feature. Max Blair began his title defense winning the A feature, while Jason Genco made his long tow from NY a profitable one winning the B feature for his biggest career win. Fresh off winning over $23,000 at the FASTRAK “World Championship” two weeks ago at Beckley, WV, Blair enters the weekend already having clinched the 2012 Northeast Touring title. In addition to his fourth $5,000 Touring crown in five years, Blair also won the $1,000 Original Pizza Logs Speedweek title for the second straight year, and earned an additional $500 for capturing the Bill Emig Memorial “Wild Card Weekend” title. Roaring Knob is the site of second place point man Mike Pegher, Jr’s just one of two victories on the 2012 Touring slate. It looks like Pegher has a pretty good shot at securing his Series’ third straight runner-up point placing as he currently leads Chad Ruhlman by 40 markers. Ruhlman, who finished second in the $7,000 to-win “World Challenge” at Beckley, enters the weekend with a 40-point edge on Ryan Montgomery, who is competing in his first full season of Touring action. John Over is currently fifth and would love to pick up his first career Series win at his home track. Ruhlman and Montgomery each have one Series win this season. Dan Angelicchio, Butch Lambert, Will Thomas III, Matt Latta, and Shane Weaver are sitting in spots six through tenth. The battle for the final points paying positions in 11th through 15th are pretty tight with Brad Kling, Joe Martin, Chad Wright, Lauren Longbrake, and Bobby Rohrer currently holding down the positions. Another six drivers in Jamie Brown, Josh Holtgraver, Steve Dixon, Andrew Wylie, Justin Tatlow, and Nolan Dalton still have a shot at cracking the top 15! Also part of the weekend will be the third and final Pace Performance “Futures Cup” Trifecta race, which will pit all eligible “Futures Cup” racers in their own event. So far this season, Nico Dabecco (Pittsburgh) and Eric Wilson (Sharon) have won the $200 to-win events as Dabecco leads the $1,000 to-win points. Of course all of the great contingency programs will be in full force. Besides the K&N “Cold Air Induction Dash”, The Brake Man “Tough Brake of the Night”, Genesis Shocks “Top Dog of the Night”, Precise Racing Products “Pedal Down” Hard Charger, and the Utsinger’s Towing Hoosier Tire Giveaway will also take place. Eight Northeast Touring Series events have been run all-time at Roaring Knob with Mike Pegher, Jr. winning four of them. Pegher began a three race win streak on June 26, 2010 winning that event, the “Fall Fest” on October 8, 2010, and then the show with the Lucas Oil Late Models on April 30, 2011. Pegher also won this year’s event with Lucas Oil back in April. Bobby Powell won the inaugural Roaring Knob race on June 26, 2009. Robbie Blair captured the victory in last year’s event. Max Blair won the “Super Nationals” and Martin just recently captured the $2,000 “Big Kahuna” event. There have been 95 Northeast Touring Series races contested with 35 different winners all-time. Max Blair leads nemesis Mike Pegher, Jr. 22 to 15 followed by Dick Barton, Bobby Powell, John Lacki, David Scott, and Joe Martin with four, Steve Dixon and Josh Holtgraver at three, Alan Dellinger, Dan Angelicchio, Robbie Blair, Ryan Montgomery, Will Thomas III, and Wayne Robertson with two, and Todd Andrews, Kyle Drum, Frank Guidace, Butch Lambert, Carl McKinney, Dennis Lunger, Jr., Tom Snyder, Jr., Chris Meadows, Jim Frank, Mike Blose, Jonathan Davenport, Gary Knollinger, Dusty Hamrick, Bud Watson, Russell King, George Kowatic, Chad Ruhlman, Matt Latta, & Sammy Stile, and Chad Wright with one victory.
