RAIN WASHES OUT FEATURE EVENTS SATURDAY AT LERNERVILLE’S “STEEL CITY STAMPEDE”; EVENT TO BE COMPLETED APRIL 2013; FASTRAK NORTHEAST SEASON NOW COMPLETE By Mike Leone October 26-27, 2012 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Sarver, PA)…The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Pace Performance FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series concluded the 2012 racing season on a soggy, dreary, and cold Saturday afternoon at Lernerville Speedway. Rain that was predicted to arrive late Friday evening held off until mid-afternoon Saturday and after waiting three hours and with worse weather predicted for Sunday, the decision was made to postpone the conclusion of the “Steel City Stampede” to April 13, 2013. Forty-four drivers participated in heat race action on Friday night that started off under sunny skies and temps well into the 70s; however, a cold front pushed through dropping the temperature in hurry and kicked up the wind. The rain all stayed to the north and west allowing all nine divisions in competition to complete their heat races in three and half hours. FASTRAK heat race winners were Chad Wright (Springboro, PA), Ricky Meglaye (Youngwood, PA), Ryan Montgomery (Fairmont, WV), Chad Ruhlman (Bemus Point, NY), and Rocky Kugel (East Liverpool, OH). Wright drew an invert six for the K&N Dash and feature line-up. For the second straight week, Ruhlman won the K&N “Cold Air Induction” Dash to earn the pole position for the 30-lap feature. Ruhlman, who started third, received another $100 K&N certificate. Kyle Zimmerman was second and received a $50 K&N certificate. Third through fifth in the dash and receiving $25 cash were Kugel, Montgomery, and Meglaye. Joe Martin captured the inaugural K&N Dash Championship by just one-point over Mike Pegher, Jr. FASTRAK Northeast Touring members that participated will receive 10 show-up points, and the 2012 season is now complete. The conclusion of the event (two B mains and the 30-lap feature) will be non-points. Max Blair is the 2012 champion for the fourth time in five years and heat out Pegher for the third straight season! The top 15 drivers/owners along with the Pace Performance “Futures Cup” racers will be honored at the awards banquet tentatively scheduled for Sunday, January 27 at Hard Rock Café Pittsburgh.
