good point.....what kind of e-mod rules is the question? clinton county went with imca to draw cars and still had trouble breaking 10 most nights...

What is an E mod? It looks to me like the IMCA cars are basically dirt late models with stock spindles and 8 inch tires. Iron block no other engine rules. Some of the other mod classes have restrictions on rear suspension, no quick changes and engine rules. What is Bedford proposing?

I don't know of any IMCA legal cars anywhere in this area. Glad to here their going to try but I don't see how these rules will fit with WV,PA,OH,VA,or MD mods. I know our TSMA or AMRA rules are not close.

The web sight says imca style E-mod specifications not imca rules. We where told they will have same rules as Roaring Knob Raceway. This is what Joe told a good friend of mine.

This didn't work when Challenger, Thunder Valley, Cumberland all ran them. Roaring Knob had 8-14 all year, and that is the only track anywhere close that runs them. I hope it works, but they better be willing to accept nights with 3 or 4 cars for a season.

Are the emods dead? Outside of Sharon that is. It's amazing to me that a new rolling Shaw is closer to $20K now. Basically a late model with 8" tires? I miss the old fashioned 3 link suspension, 9" rear end, steel Afco shock, A40 tire days, that's for sure!

Running around PA rooting out and looking at old Vintage Modifieds to grow our class, I've probably come accross 8 to 10 old Emods just sitting away rotting - one was a brand new chassis never been used, just sitting rusting away.

There are so many good race cars out there sitting because they are too old to be competitive with todays hi tech cars, or they simply cost too much to remain competitive. This is one of the reasons our Group is growing so quickly..... ALL are older cars, no hi tech stuff and if you cant build a competitive car for $6000, theres something seriously wrong with you. And of course the nostalgic aspect of the class keeps the interest there from fans and participants alike. Good, cheap fun.

Dont know what the answer is for the Imca/Emods, just know theres a heap of old cars out there.

BTW, the Vintage Modifieds get a run at Bedford in 2013..... looking forward to it.

I think it's awesome what you are doing with the vintage mods, but what kind of tech inspections do you have as far as safety of some of these old rusty modifieds? I'm sure a lot of them have just sat around outside and have had rust eating away at them making them weak in different areas. Not to mention that a lot of them were home built and cobbled up as well as unsafe from day one. I see an old sportsman modified up by Erie that has been sitting there for years. Don't know who used to drive it, but it would be cool to see it out on the track again.

Jimbo3J that guy made fun of me for asking a question about that series I don't think he wants people to know about it and especially he probably won't tell you about tech inspections and safety because he won't even tell anyone the final points standings

it's HILDO with an H

Clinton County went to those IMCA rules hoping that they might get some New York cars, where they do run IMCA rules and the class is actually growing.

If we travel west from Morgantown mods have good car counts. Skyline has 30+ mods every Friday. Tyler has 15-20, the Zanesville area is about the same. When Bob was running Bedford and Cumberland just didn't seem like we could get over the hump with the mod car counts. I always thought if Winchester or Hagerstown would have picked them up, there would have been alot more. Will Rowe and Darrell Shimmel tried to but all the traveling didn't make sense. I don't know were the cars will come from but I hope they do. Good luck, our team will try to make some shows when possible.

The 'race' cars are teched every race meeting and safety is paramount. None of our cars were rusty basket cases when they were rebuilt... if we need to, we will sonic test the chassis and roll cage if any come from dubious origins. As for 'home built' cars, we do have a few and the worksmanship in them is equal to any of the Tobias, Olsen, Kniesel or Troyer cars. If they weren't built well initially, they would not have lasted till today. Cars not able to be raced can still be shown and displayed.

Just curious cause I'm not familiar with bedford's turn outs but, how many pure stocks and street stocks they have each week. If its like dog hollows there may be as many e-mods as either of those two classes.

Around 9-12 street stocks and 12-14 pure stocks.
