Hesston Distributes 2012 Speedmonster Points Bonus and Sets 2013 Schedule!

(Hesston, PA) Hesston Speedway established itself as a major force in the region’s Super Late Model scene in 2012 with its new Speedmonster Super Series with strong car counts and excellent racing action. 83 different Super Late Model drivers competed at “Motor Mountain” during the season with Nick Dickson of Lewistown, PA coming out on top as the 2012 Speedmonster Super Late Model Champion.

The Speedway has distributed $4,500 in points bonus money to the top 6 finishers in the Speedmonster Super Series. This points bonus was made possible by the strong supported by American Racer, Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, Precise Racing and Lias Tire along with contributions from Hesston Speedway. The Speedmonster points bonus was paid on top of any point money won from the participating Three State Flyers and ULMS racing series. Despite weather reducing the Speedmonster events to 4 events and 66% of the original schedule, 90% of the full point fund was paid to the participating drivers.

Dickson had an excellent year with several $5,000 to win victories at different tracks including the “Superthunder Road” Speedmonster opener at Hesston, as well as the Hagerstown track championship. His amazing 24th to 1st run at “Superthunder Road” would be a sign of his 2012 Speedmonster championship to come. With every position counting for precious points. You know the facility may have gotten a nice uplift but Hesston, to me, has seemed to have gone downhill since the Lynns sold it. At least they provided weekly racing and opportunities for other divisions to race.

Not Bad mouthing Dr.Eriksen in any way! We all know he has had his problems! And God Bless him,his effort, and his recovery! But this was what the ultimate downfall of Challenger was! Jack made so much money on the first few Fall fest events.....that he decided to go specials only! Granted any good business man will sit down and say....Gee I can make Big money on a couple specials...or I can make a couple grand, or loose on a regular show! Specials= less times to prep the track...less times to pay the utilities insurance and employees..... Sounds good to me! But In Jacks case....people got tierd of him wanting to just scoop the cream off the top and quit supporting him period! You have to give back to the racers and fans and they will give back to you. Just my.02 I know myself....I quit supporting Jack when dropped the weekly show! And I seriously doubt I would ever support any track that doesn't have a weekly show for the fans and Competitors!

Challenger closed because of 2 criminal acts that were committed on the property by a race fan and a race driver. The owners did not want the liability anymore. That is why the track was disassembled instead of being leased out.....the liability would still be there if they owned it and leased it out. Challenger was profitable until the end and had a capacity crowd and over 250 cars at the final event. It's suprising and maybe even foolish that any track owner would assume the high liability of a race track these days. These types of intentional acts continue to happen at race tracks.

I can tell you that the crowds and car counts were always bigger when jack went to specials only.

Apparently you didn't attend his final races` When he tried to get the UFO stuff started...it was a Bust! Thats why he cancelled all the ones he had scheduled! Nobody in the stands...nobody in the pits! And Jack had the only track I ever attended that had armed Security guards walking around all night to make sure nobody would sneek in! It was all about the money to Jack!

I get it he has health problems but its a damn shame to have a facility that is that nice and produces excellent racing and only use it a few times a year he has enough people on his team that he could stand back a little bit and take a break and let them help to run a full year hopefully with the reopening of Hill Valley speedway running the limiteds street stocks hobbys it will keep the local racing alive with out it reopening and hesston only running a few why would anyone want to build a car and get into the sport when you don't have a place to go without a long drive I win the lotto I'll buy it fire the pr guy and run a full year with a stacked schedule

The Speedmonster was great for the Super late models. Nick Dickson made some good coin for 5 events. But it's a shame what the hell had happened too local racing in that area. It's crazy too say but Hill Valley might have too save the small guys in that area. A lot of the, hobby and four bangers that supported them got tea bagged. I agree with above post, this promoter has too go, hes maybe brought in good late model shows but royally f'd up weekly rqcing in that area.
