WRP will run the following classes on a weekly basis for the 2013 season: Non Wing Sprints UMP Modified Mini Sprints 4 cyl. Trucks Compacts. There will be nights where we only run 4 out of these 5 classes. We hope that you are as excited for the 2013 season as we are. This should allow us more time for interaction with our drivers, crews and fans.   More info to come soon.

I hope wrp changes that and gives stocks a chance to race there next yr on a regular basis. It would be a shame to cut the class when it has offered good racing for many yrs. The low counts might get the blame but stocks are not the only class to suffer low counts. This decision is very frustrating as we were hoping to run there a lot next yr due to numerous reasons. I like the track but if this holds up it shows that the track does not support the racers when it has asked the racers to support the track yr after yr. i hope wrp rethinks the decision and contemplates the message that would be sent to not just stocks but all the classes that support wrp-justin long

The stocks had two yrs and the counts were low, Now there is a rumor floating around that this could be the last year for Lima. The stocks are getting thin. Most are moving up to Mods. Dont blame WRP you all had the chance to run, yes its a shame but dont blame the track .

Smitty, how many shows did you run there the past TWO YEARS? That is the problem. Not you specifically, but the low car counts in general. It was a business decision to do so, not personal...so why are you making it personal? PS, I am the guy you sold that POS car to back in 07 or 08 with the wrong (junk) wheels and tires on it...thanks for never replying to my inquiries after the fact. Justin, yeah it sucks for sure. I wish there was something we could do to give it another shot. I've had a lot of fun running Waynesfield, and consider all of the guys there my friends. I wish we could have gotten more of the "part time" guys to support the track more....with Lima's upcoming "shorter season" there is going to be a big void to fill for race dates. This was supposed to be my last year racing, now my home track is gone, Eldora has 9 shows (that I have no crew to run if I wanted on Saturdays since my guys race waynesfield) and I am sitting on a brand new car and engine that I've worked for a LONG time to get....with pretty much no place to go with it. I wont be happy racing 10-12 times on my last year, and there is no place else logical to go. I had a -little- advance notice this was happening, and scrambled to see what I could do to try to salvage the situation. One avenue to keep them would have -POSSIBLY- race for 200 to win, 50 to start. I contacted most of the fast guys I am friends with for their opinions on it....one said OK as long as I got a free reserved parking spot, the rest of the responses ranged from "I'll probably pass" to "F*** NO". What can we do about it at this point? Let's ask WRP. It doesn't really seem salvageable at this point, but it is worth a shot. I've been a supporter there ever since I got back into racing, and would continue to do so if some kind of agreement or compromise could be met. I've helped quite a few people with parts/tech/help every chance we've gotten, and we've tried pretty hard to get the rest of our friends we race with to come race too. I don't know what more I can do. I too am not happy racing for the same purse the stocks had in 1988, but I also understand the pains of a growing/struggling track racing a declining/struggling division. I really feel like WRP has done all they can to get us and keep us there - 2 years is a long time to get the divisions to grow. What would a happy medium be? A progressive purse? Ex: <18 cars the truck purse is in effect. 18+ the regular purse is in effect? It's a dangerous precedent to set, but what other options might we have? If some of the guys who weren't there for the past couple of years, perhaps an agreement of intent to race there regularly? I have no interest in towing to Montpelier on a regular basis. Not sure I have the budget or help for Eldora. I'm open to suggestions.

You must talk to skip, I've heard two other people say that this week as well :)

The car counts have been up a little at Lima, there were b-mains every time I raced there this year. I'll be there weekly next year. I think there will be a B weekly.

Yep i have heard the same thing floating around and heard it thru two other people, but with Unoh having so much of a program into the stock division that sounds a little uncertain ( lets hope so). Lima had a 10 yr building plan but with a shorter season and if the stock rumor is true seems like the 10 yr building program is taking a step backwards. But with WRP loss maybe it might bring a few more cars to Lima, most that ran WRP do run Lima. Its a sad day for some because the ones who were loyal to WRP have lost a great place to race. I dont think its so much of the car counts but like Tim said its the money factor that could be spread out to others or help the track out for some improvements. I know with my situation i was only able to make one race last year the Doty but if i could i would be right back at WRP donating my time at the gate. Good luck to the loyal stock car guys that maybe some thing might change. And lets hope the Lima rumor is just that!!

It does suck for the stock car guys, but with car counts about the same as the compacts but the compacts running for a lot less money we all knew which class would be kicked out. I like watching the stock car guys race (most of the time) but IMO WRP gave them long enough to raise their car counts. Getting online and bitching and complaining about it is not going to change it, calling out the track is not going to convince them to bring you back. Instead maybe the stock car guys can be more like Tim and maybe get together and get a sign up sheet going, maybe if you can guarantee enough for a b main maybe you can convince Greg to give ya a handful of races this year and then maybe increase them after the next 2 seasons with decent car counts? Thats gotta be a better idea than calling them out online?

I stand by what I said...like the track and wanted to run there more In 2013. If were not scheduled then so be it. Hopefully they reconsider.

Its a business decision. The stock cars have the lowest car counts at the track and they where looking to go to 5 classes the reasonable class to drop was the stock cars. They are not trying to screw anybody over. It makes sense for them to drop the stocks because it was costing them money to run them they where not bringing in any revenue off of them. I enjoyed racing wrp my first ever race was there and i hope they do have a couple races but not a whole lot if it is going to cost them money in the long run. There are other tracks to run for the stocks and that was probably a big deciding factor in why they dropped the stocks. Eldora is a great place to run and anyone that would ever need help at eldora if they are going to run there we will be more than happy to help anybody out there. Jordan Conover

Not everyone has the help/resources/equipment to be able to put on a competitive effort at Eldora.

I understand that all I am saying is that if any teams are going to make the trip to the big E and need any help all they have to do is ask we will be more than happy to help. And if you ever want do want to come to eldora and do not have the help of a crew we would be more than happy to help you at the track if you park beside us.

JMO Compacts are the new stock car. Go to your local junk yard. Tell me how many Chevy's and Ford's you see of older years that make great stock cars. Not many. They are hard to find anymore. Honda's, Toyota's, and other 4 cylinder cars are a dime a dozen. We build Honda's right here in the great state of Ohio. Parts are everywhere to be found. Average build on a compact is between 800.00 to 1,000.00 dollars. Just looking at it from that angle.

Ya its a bummer cause we have an awesome short track right here but too many classes for one track. Stock counts will be way up at lima this yr but even if wrp ran stocks every week they would not likely see anywhere near the same cars. Looking around you wont find many teams in any division that can run twice a week every week. The avg race team simply cant afford it. This is apparent in any class . Even the mods field a strong count at both tracks but the majority of teams dont run both lima and wrp.
