Has anyone heard of any rule changes? It seems that we need something simple. We know from history racers are going to do what it takes to win. We know for a fact claims do not work. Teams at local level do not claim each other. Most teams are friends or use the i won't claim you if you don't claim me. The rule for the inch and a quarter diameter by 24 long was the easiest and is versatile and equal for all brands and engines. If people are spending 4 thousand it won't be long they will spend even more. I believe that's what happened to the stocks. A regular, working man could not afford to compete. We keep it affordable we will be running B mains this year.

1-7/8" inside diameter on the last 24" of the exhaust. Exhaust must exit under the truck. All helmets must be Snell SA 2000 at least. No motorcycle helmets. The rules will be posted soon. Sorry our announcer and website maintainer just received a job promotion to USAC so he's been a little busy. Other than that the rules are the same. By the way the claim is still in place that was last year also.

thanks for the information 1 7/8 seems odd is that a standard size? Wow their is still a whole truck claim' that's another sore spot. Like i said before i can see giving up our motor' but the whole truck is just crazy. That rule alone is going to scare people from spending time to build a new truck that (looks) good!

1-7/8" is a standard size stocked at Advance Auto Parts in Lima. We wanted to find a size that would be in stock and readily available. We were thinking of you the racer Sammy. Secondly the claim rule was in effect all season last year and never used so it's not a new rule this season. We actually raised the price of the claim this year just to help the "sting" of the rule. It's just a resource there in case the racer thinks a truck is getting way out of hand. We don't expect to ever see the claim rule used but it is there in case someone chooses to.

We tried to this offseason. They said they race weekly at Hilltop on Saturday evenings and their local track would not take an evening off from racing so the point chasers would not make the 3 hour drive to leave their hometrack. I then sent a message to Hilltop asking them if they would be interested in trading a Saturday evening off and letting the two classes try one another's tracks and they never responded. So I have tried sir. Sorry. That is the life of a promoter haha.

One other small rule change for safety was no openings in the hood. It's ok to have hood scoops and cowls but they must be fully closed. All classes will also have to use at least Snell SA2000 approved or newer helmets. No motorcycle helmets. That is allowing helmets almost 13 years old but we would prefer that you use your own judgement on how much you want to protect yourself. We care about your well being and want you to go home safe.

Not a bash, but kind of curious as to why a hood opening needs to be enclosed? Mods are open, late models are open. Ive always thought this with the stock cars as to why it had to be enclosed for a "driver safety" issue. My air filter sits well under the hood of my truck, so its really no big deal to me what-so-ever. Just curiosity during this long off-season. Also, will any other rules be changed for this year other than exhaust tube, helmet rule? Id like to see a mandatory use of gloves. Whats the sense in covering your entire body with a fire resistant suit (should be 1 piece in my opinion), but dont have to cover your hands...the two things that will allow you to unbuckle your seat belts, remove the steering wheel, and hoist yourself out of the vehicle. Makes no sense. Its not something Ive just seen at waynesfield, its something Ive seen at nearly every track Ive been to. I myself am guilty of accidentally leaving my gloves at home and didnt realize it until I got to the track and raced without them, but now see how stupid it was.

I have to agree on this one. I don't race any more, but even the smallest of dirt clods and other oddities that come at you in any dirt race car hurts bad enough through gloves, let alone bare hands. And fire even ups the danger anty. Fire retardant gloves or at least leather makes sense to me. I know things are hot in the summer, but gasoline burns, or alcohol burns are more serious than sweat. GOOD HELMETS ARE A RACERS BEST FRIEND! JMO, JUST DO IT!!!! REALLY!!!! I am the DR.

They need to do some kind of safety check on all the cars and the drivers equipment. I raced there 3 times last year, once in a mini sprint, and twice in a truck and not one person from the track came over to check to see if I have any clue as to what i was doing or to see if I have a firesuit, or seat belts. Ive seen some sketcy equipment out there. Where Im from, there is an offical who checks everyones car, seat belts, drivers suit, helmet, neck supports and gloves to make sure they have them, they are up to date, and safe. I think waynesfield and other surrounding tracks should do the same. JMO

A lot of the safety things you mentioned are things that a racer should have enought sence to take it upon themselfs for protection of their own safety. As far as some thing i dont like is some of the compacs use the factory fuel tank and not using a fuel cell. Maybe im wrong on this rule but thats some thing i would have in a car a fuel cell.

Yeah, you would think a racer would have enough sense to not use carriage bolts to hold in your seat, or exhaust pipe as roll bar tubing, but some rednecks do.

Ive been to tracks where they wont allow your car on the track until after it passes a safety inspection. I just think the tracks around here should pick up on that.

Your right there are some who think they are getting away with some thing but all they are doing is hurting themselfs or another racer.
