Hi all, I finally have a date for my Dad's race, Saturday June 1 at PPMS. Mercer is not running Stocks that night. Sharon has graciously offered to ask for driver feedback and will consider making their race a non-points race if the interest is there (thanks Dave!) and I'm trying to work with Lernerville to make this race a part of a Series of big stock car races in 2013. Great news all around. Also want to thank Matt Miley for working with me on this. Same as last year, LMS will be the featured division and run first. My target this year is to make this race $1,700 to win. Home track rules. Open tires. Let's make this race even better this time around. I will begin the sponsor/donation activities shortly. If any businesses/fans are interested in taking part again like last year it will be greatly appreciated!! Give me a ring/text at 412-396-9138 or racer17v@yahoo.com or reply here with feedback. Vince Laboon

I wanted to add- Matt is fine with making this race 20 or 25 laps if we get the high car count I expect. So unless I am mistaken, the guys would like to run for 25 laps versus 17, correct?

Hopefully we can get a good field of cars for this event, Vince and his family did a tremendous job of putting this race together last year. Hopefully Mercer guys will make an attempt to attend this race and possibly Sharon will run a non points night for the stocks, would be really cool to make this one of the biggest stock shows in the area. Not sure what the Clearfield area has running that night but hopefully Colton Gearhart and Kyle Shannon will make the tow again.

If 1700 to win don't pull the cars who knows what will. Either way it will be a good race again this year, and you have our support again.

I spoke with Kyle and he is coming again this year! Also wanted to update Tim Burns and the Sharon guys- we will allow your track rules for this race since PPMS already has some of the most open rules for the division. The ONLY requirement Matt will not change is no spoilers, unless you are running 8" tires. You already run the 3310 Holley and have to weigh 3000, PPMS is same carb and 3050#. So as long as you are legal at Sharon we will not make you alter your cars for the EL17. In looking at Mercer's rules, they also run a 3310 and have to weigh either 3000 or 3100 lbs, so their track rules will be good. Lernerville cars are legal at PPMS as well. Kyle told me they need to weigh 3100# Let me know of any other concerns. Vince

Will they open the carb rule up again? Allowed double pampers last year and it proved to have zero advantage. Allows a lot more guys to come without borrowing/buying carbs.

Why don't they allow 10 degree 430's and 4 link rear suspensions and canister shocks too !!

No need to be a dick. I'm not asking for a rule change. I'm asking if it will be opened again like it was last year to allow the cars to come that are allowed those carbs weekly. It's not any competitive advantage at that track anyway. Are you worried there will be stocks there running quicker lap times than you?

Not afraid at all .... Cadets are 5 seconds slower than supers ... I just don't see why when most people have to run the restricted carb that there should be an exception for you

Funny I was just talking to Kyle Shannon about this. The home track rules was with you running a 3310. If you want to run the mechanical secondaries you can, you just have to weigh 3200#. So yes we will be flexible on the carbs again. Any questions let me know thanks!

Thank you! And legend, it's not that they run a restricted carb at all. Theyre all 750s The vacuum secondaries are actually a benefit for a lot of guys. Much more forgiving on the slick surface. If you want to attract cars from different tracks though, you have to be willing to be flexible with rules. I wish there was a single set of rules like late models that you could run anywhere. They've done a great job cooperating and everyone is competitive as they are at most open rule stock shows. It's great to see a 358 running door to door with a 430. The competition is great. Most tracks have opened up to a similar rule set for specials. Should do it weekly. It works.

Congrats on getting your date. Just curious if I or any of my other fellow posters here ran Matt off of Racestud as he didn't make this announcement himself and hasn't been here to make any in some time. I was actually looking forward to congratulating him on here for taking my advice about restoring the Pittsburgher to a national high dollar event, but he seems to have disappeared.

Who wants an autograph?

Nah Matt's around. He's just letting me run with this since it was such a big success last year.

Confirmed Bob Schwartzmiller, Colton Gearhart, Tim Burns and Kyle Shannon will be attending. Also a possibility of working with Ron Fox of Pit Pass TV show to promote and tape the race!

Vince, I'm sure Bob Heim will be there, I also talked to Bryan Wagner and he said he is coming. Not confirmed with Russ Byler but I would imagine he will be there.
