45 Sprint Cup cars trying to make a 43 car field??? Some of which can be attributed to the Gen6 car! Last Night at Volusia County speedway.....47 Super lates??? 36 Superlates at Bubba Sunday night for $20,000.00 to win??? Where is this headed?? In 1999 there was 120 BigRig teams at Volusia trying to make the show! In 2002 that was down to around 90-100. In 2011 it was 60. This year 47! Don't follow Cup that close...but there was allways 10-15 that didn't make the race! The Economy is in the tank! There is no money out there! Currently our business is suffering locally because of the Income tax returns! Any business this time of year is heavily funded by Income tax returns! Well...you couldn't file till Jan 31st...Then you can't get a paper refund check till March 1st....if then... if the Government doesn't go down! So I guess we just all waite???? I hope everyone that re-elected the current people in Washington because they didn't want to loose thier benefits is happy! You have to pay the piper sooner or later! But I predict a very rough year for Racing! No Money out there!

If your business is based on people spending their tax returns you may want to look into another type of business.

Anything in the Automotive business is hugley affected by incometax returns this time of year! Because the other monthly money goes form the Christmas bills that are now due!

55 super lates and 38 big blocks at Volusia last night. It doesn't help car counts when BRP and East Bay are running super lates head to head last week. If they would bite the bullet and swallow their pride and work together I think both tracks. drivers, and fans would be better off.

I don't think working together would
Help, fans owners and drivers can only take soo much time off , if nothing over lapped they would be in flordia / Georgia for a solid month !! Who has an entire month to
Be gone ?

If your clients discretionary spending for the year equates to just their income tax return you might want to aim for a little higher class of client

Tax returns have a huge influence on business and the economy-people generally purchase larger ticket items from washers and dryers-cars- smaller scale home renovations such as painting-carpet....sales always go up. Retail the effect is much larger.

38 big blocks at Volusia last night.

that's a pretty good count for having no local/region support tracks to get cars from...

Your exactly correct.

Unless you owe money there is allot of people that look forward to tax returns.

One of the problems with the Florida/Georgia races is that they get earlier and earlier all the time and the season gets longer and longer all the time. We're getting to the point that the off-season is about a month and a half to two months long. Getting all new stuff ready for the next season in that short a time is a lot to ask and next to impossible.

NASCAR has seen low car counts in past years. Some of the biggest supporters of NASCAR in the past aren't allowed to sponsor teams anymore so who's fault is that? I believe it has an impact on the sport by limiting what sponsor is allowed on the car.

I know of no one who bases their travel on an income tax return. First off if they do there is rapid refund, so with that said the real problem with racing is that the whole systen is broke.....not money broke but change broke.Almost every form of racing from dirt to pavement has become cookie cutter cars with constant rules changes ,tire compounds and brands ,crate engines, sealed engines, sanctioning groups ,transponders, wing size, and on and on.The world of outlaws at one time was just that ,a bunch of travelling teams that could roll into any track and kick butt with anything they stuck under the hood and any kind of tire brand they preferred to get the job done.Thats when racing was fun,and fun to watch. Now outlaw teams are owned by millionaire Nascar stars with multiple cars, even cars just for certain tracks. You add all this up and this is why the fields are small they have become the hobby for the rich and the days of the guy at the corner service station who could through a car together add a few of his secret little tricks to eke out a little more horsepower are gone. The weekend racer has no chance to compete anymore ,and if you cant win a few bucks you can only say thanks for the memories and hang up the helmet and firesuit. Racing needs to go back to its roots!!!!

First of all those car counts sound like a pretty decent show to me.

Now think about 2 tracks running the same division head to head this way. If there are 100 cars and they are all at 1 track, with a feature starting 24 cars, 76 are going on the trailer. Now it there are 2 tracks running and the field is split, there are 2 features with 24 cars each, only 52 going home. To me this sounds better for the racers.

Just my thoughts on things

Why do I like racing ? Well the colors are bright and there is a lot of movement, so it holds my attention.

I don't really think these tracks are overlapping that much! Last week....Tuesday thru Saturday..the Lucas oil cars were at Eastbay! Friday Saturday, Sunday WoO at Bubba! So a two day overlap at Bubba! Now its UMP and WoO Monday through Saturday of this week at Volusia! So the only over lap was at Bubba! So explain why there was only 36 for 20k to win at Bubba last Sunday with no overlap??? I should of mentioned that 15 years ago there was over 100 cars at Eastbay and then the next week at Volusia! Is there enough for a good show....YES! Are the best in the Country there....YES! Is it less than half the cars that it used to be....YES! I love to watch latemodel racing! So I would rather watch 120 cars than 47 or 55 last night! Like double for your money! After you spend the money to go to Florida...You want to see as much as you can for your money! But still good racing I am sure! And now that they use transponders and qualify 6 cars at a time....it sway moore enjoyable! And you back at the motel by Midnight instead of 3am!

One quote can sum up the next 4 years : " We dont have a Spending Problem .. We have a Revinue problem "
Nascar is No Guage of Grass roots ! They are lock step with the above statement getting their Stimulous and selling the Idea to BURN FOOD and Dont drill for oil !
If they had any Integrity to their Fans instead of their Corporate sponsors .. They would be out there saying .. Burning food is stupid !
it costs more
Its harder on Motors
Its highly UNEFFICIENT !
!were sticking with oil!
But that aint gonna happen

You would have to look at the antics of some of NASCARS 'prima donna's' over the past few years for a drop in sponsorship dollars too. No one wants their businesses associated with idiots bringing down the name of the sport.

Spot on here. The more racers that get paid, the more racers that can afford to back up next week.
