Just curious, anybody besides me think stocks should be able to run bert or brinn trannys in 2014? Yes they cost more up front but compared to buying a tranny, clutch and throwout bearing the cost evens out fast. I noticed they are legal at pelier so why not lima and eldora? Rebuild kits and replacement parts are affordable and available. Debate worthy???

Lima won't listen, try an Indiana site, but good luck with stockers as they are mostly open Wheel. However there are alot of people willing to help, just gotta find them? Good Luck

If buying new, there is no cost difference.....price a good triple disc and throwout. If buying used, I think going the bert route is cheaper. Remember the Berts are 18" from front to tail while a GM trans is 21....so it would require a new drive shaft to switch over.

Well my point would be that bomers are long gone!!! We sure aint STOCK cars far from it so if its better and cheeper for the teams Y not, Berts great idea and Y not quick change rear ends??? Go buy 4-8 differnt sets on center sections @ 400+ ea. Make us run the steel tube axels just like the Mods. Then our gear change would only be 50 bucks per gear after that, but its not cheeper they say.
I belive thats Y next year I might move up to late models with Jordan and sell the 2 stock cars I have now!!!

i agree 100%... stocker. as far as Jordan moving into a late model, i think you need to get him some more seat time. unless you have unlimited money for him to tear shit up trying to grasp a major speed change. i ran stocks for 6 years and it was a major learning curve, but maybe Jordan is a way better driver then i was when i had my stock car.

Gibbs-Gang I think Jordan will be ok moving up!!!! He has raced 1/4 midgets from the age of 9 and done quite will with 86 feature wins and track championships. The kid ran my car all last year at Lima and Eldora with not tearing up my car or anyones else!!! Knock on wood. What was your car number we have ran lima since 2000 or was it latter then this time period, I dont think late models cost much more to run then are cars now. I'M looking at a black frt end Rocket that Miller ran with complete roller minus motor 7,500 with alot of extra parts. Alot of our sponsors said they would step up better if I make the change.

The Gibbs Gang are by far no rookies in racing and know what they are talking about a lot a years in racing. As for one has ran proably over 20years.

Heck going from a hobby stock to a street stock was a big change at least for me, maybe it was the fact that I was about 15 years old at the time. The speed and handling difference was a lot more than I ever would've expected, as dumb as it may sound. Street stock to late model is a big step too. There is a huge difference between the two classes especially with Jordan's car being mostly stock compared to the other guys he ran against. I can definitely vouch for that one since I am a world reknown late model driver with many, many feature wins.

Posted 04 December 2013 - 07:14 PM Brinn trans are the same length as GM trans. The new generation berts can be bought at the GM length. (shorter are available also) Reply to this topic![]() 1 user(s) are reading this topic0 members, 1 guests, 0 anonymous users |
