A dear friend and fellow racer , Carl Billet passed away today February 25th after suffering a severe stroke Saturday night. He was an accomplished Dirt Late model Champion with 17 track championships at 4 different speedways. Clinton County Speedway, Silver Springs Speedway , Bedford Speedway, and most recent Championship at Susquehanna Speedway in 2012. Carl Just received his championship Trophy from Susquehanna Speedway Friday night where he also got his very first Sportsmanship Award! Carl had a total of 54 Super Late Model Wins and 127 Limited Late Model Wins at 11 different Speedways from 1986 - 2012. The before mentioned tracks and Williams grove, Thunder Valley Speedway, Port Royal, Path Valley, Hidden Valley, Hesston and Lincoln Speedways. Carl also fabricated racecars (magnum Chassis) which I have personally over 100 wins in, he knew his stuff when it came to racecars. Carl wasn't exactly the easiest guy to get to know, but when he did get to know you there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for you if he could. You would know if Carl Liked you when he passed you in the pits and flipped you the bird. lol... that was his way of saying hello! He was a lot of fun to be around, always joking and laughing with everyone. Carl won the very first Chili 100 at Clinton County Speedway and in the winners circle said and I quote ( I won just because I wanted to take Janney's Money) lol...always a jokester. I'm not good at this kind of thing , I just thought everyone should know what an all around good guy and friend and fellow racer he was. Rest in Peace My Friend you will be sadly missed #33 & #2.

this is sad indeed. I helped David Scott in the 90's and was there when he made the move to Magnum. Carl always treated us well and did have a great sense of humor. The racing community has lost a great friend, competitor and ambassador.

I've just heard of this a short time ago, our racing world has lost a truly class act.

Very shocking sad news. What a legend he was with the wins and championships. We had the pleasure of parking next to him at a few 358 races last year in PA and felt honored to be able to meet and talk with him. To race all the years he has with the success over those years is amazing. I admired him for the same reason I look up to my Dad so much, to be that competive for that long is just plain awesome. He probably would have won another championship next year, another life cut to short. May he rest in peace.
