The Speed Channel will be gone as of August 17 and replaced by Fox Sports 1. I'm sad to see it go, but it never really became what I had hoped. It sounds like FS1 will concentrate on NASCAR trucks, UFC, college basketball and MLB games. Oh well, always Dirtvision.
I was disappointed with it as well. Too much NASCAR coverage, too much monster truck BS. They did have some stuff worth watching, but during NASCAR season, it might as well have been renamed The NASCAR Network.
Maybe some other cable network will develop a channel for motorsports fans that isn't overrun by NASCAR. We shall see.

I say bring back TNN....
The fact is dirt track racing does not bring in the sponsorship dollars and revenue to make it profitable for the networks to televise races and even with the WoO and Forrest Lucas's money it still isn't enough for the networks to do it on a regular basis.
Until someone steps up and lays down NASCAR, F1, NHRA, type money and sponsorship return for broadcast rights I doubt you'll see anymore coverage than what we have now.

You would have thought with all the racing that goes on in this country they would have more of it on tv. Are you faster than a redneck really?????

To add on to this... the dirt racing that was on SPEED WoO, Lucas any of it really, was paid for entirely by WRG or Forrest Lucas. It's not like the channel put it on because it felt tons of people wanted it (although I do have a buddy that works for SPEED, and he told me that the WoO World Finals was among the highest rated shows every year).
If WoO and Lucas wanted to put dirt racing on the "new" channel, I'm sure they still could... although the asking price almost assuredly will go up exponentially.

It's a shame that in the late 80's & early 90's, there were 2 truly great weekly racing highlight programs that covered all forms of racing from F-1 to dirt tracks - ESPN's 'Speedweek' & TBS's 'Motorweek Illustrated'. Miss both of them big time!!
And the best one of all was Pat Patterson's show On Pit Road on TNN.
