Good point never thought of the schedule being out months ago. Just going by what I saw on a New York board. Maybe the new owner is the old owner, Ferd Wallace.CHEVY1A you are correct as to what the K&N's website says. Please keep in mind that was released in December of last year. Since then, the went up for sale. I am close to the Bainey family, and after speaking to them, it was down to two parties looking at purchasing the facility.
A group out of Virginia or a local man was in the running. They have a tentative agreement with the local man, and the papers are being drawn up. I'm sure the Bainey's have not contacted anyone other than lawyers at this time. Once the papers are signed, that K&N race may or may not be on the schedule, I have no idea. I don't know who any of the parties are involved, other than I heard it may go back to dirt with the agreement.
The Bainey's are hoping to keep it local whether it is dirt or asphalt.
Funny how the person that started this "rumor" had permission to post, but won't give up the name?
D1RT, Curious to know who the only two people, who they are?
Dingo, I don't think anyone on here said they will not support AMP. I think what Jeff is doing is great, that was always a fun little track. I doubt whoever is buying it won't interfere with AMP's schedule.

I agree dingo, the only option for the new owner of clearfield would be to run another night or keep it blacktop. For me personally, I'll give Americas Motorsports Park my allegience. Jeff Taylor has moved into the area to ressurect a 'lost cause' and spent 18 months, countless hours and $$$$$ in bringing back regular racing to the area. He has contacted other tracks in the area to try and work in with them for the benifet of all concerned and been shunned, yet he continues to forge ahead. And with the local racer at heart, he has organised and hosted a benifet and raised a considerable sum of money for a local racer who lost everything through a workshop fire. He has also breathed new life into the local Shopping Mall show, which was sadly spiralling downward. And all this before a shot has been fired in anger at the revamped facility.
Conversely, the former Central PA Speedway has done nothing for the sport locally in recent times and still nothing is proposed, yet here is an outpouring of support for the facility and whomever takes it over without scant consideration to someone who has invested his heart and soul into and initaiated bringing back racing to the Clearfield area.
If this facility has indeed been bought by a local with 'decades of experience in dirt track racing', then why has he stepped forward now and not in the past 5 or 6 years when the area has been screaming for a regular racing venue? Why now when there is already someone ressurecting a track locally? This town is just not big enough to accomodate 2 Speedways... someone will fail.
For me, Jeff Taylor stepped forward, put his money and heart into the old Hidden Valley and put the local racer first.... and thats where my allegience will lay. And as for my Club, Class and Series, we will support those that support us and AMP has pledged its support to us going forward.

the last few races that were held there on the asphalt this past year there were tickets given away for free to try to get people in the stands , i talked to a guy who told me his wife was given a pair of tickets by a woman who had them given to her and she didn't want them,( he told me that was my one trip there and my last ) so if someone does re-open the place as an asphalt track they are going to have a long road ahead of them and i wish them the best of luck because the last race up there was the same day as practice at a.m.p and there were more people at the practice then at that race , but either way i hope someone gets some use out of it i just hope someone doesn't have to go broke trying to make it work as an asphalt track . good luck either way !
I heard there were a couple thousand free tickets handed out for the K-N Nascar race. There was a good crowd there that night, and I know we had to buy tickets, I hope we weren't the only ones. We had free passes for the first race last year, and enjoyed it enough that we went back for more. The asphalt was a nice change of pace for me, and I would gladly go back for more this year, but, I really did love the shows on the dirt up there!

Fwig it was just a couple people that crossed my mind that could be in the running for the track based on the comments/quotes posted by the other fellow that is all. Just thoughts/ guesses nothing more.
Could be one of them maybe neither of them??
Anyone that knows the history of Clearfield Speedway both dirt and asphalt could come up with the two people that have crossed my mind....

don't think the half mile would work....guys were always talking about the 3/8 being hard on equipment...I would doubt that R.T . Merryman has any interest in owning a race track but who knows i haven't seen him in years. but like i said before i hope if they do keep it asphalt that the new owner ( if there really is one ) knows that to get people in the stands you have to give free tickets away so it appears you have a crowd , i don't ever remember 1000 tickets given away to get a crowd to see Scott Bloomquist run there when it was a dirt track.but anyhow i would like to see the half mile dirt track come back and i know where there is a bulldozer that might be for sale to take care of that nasty black stuff over there !!!!

oh lord, you gonna piss off all the fwd drivers around here cause they think they are the next nascar stars...ask janey how it went for her when she decided to give them a high paying show!!!!!Run fwd cars every week since Marion Center dropped them, charge them $25 to get in the pits, $5 in the stands and $150 to win the feature and the promoter will make a profit and the track will be able to stay open. Those cars will be really, really fast on the big track and there are lots of them for sale.
Early April Fool's day joke. Do not read until Monday.

I don't think they had to pay any of the asphalt drivers a $5,000 appearance fee just to show up either....

I agree, that was a perfect example of spending money to make money. Same with the Yankee Doodle that Clanton won, any appearance money they paid out that night to some of the outlaw drivers was money well spent. The K-N race last year was packed, but not like it was the night Clanton won the Yankee Doodle.

You obviously have no clue what it takes financially to run a race team dumbass. How about they leave it a half mile and you foot the bill for a car and parts for one season on it and we'll see what you have to say after the season is over. That is if you make it to the end financially.3/8 mile hard on equipment? The big dirt half would separate the men from the boys. Go big or go home. Or put less gear in it.

I have raced that track when they turned it back to dirt and it was NO HARDER on equipment then any other track except when the brine was used.
