SWEENEY CHEVROLET FASTRAK NORTHEAST TOURING SHOW ON TAP FOR MERCER SATURDAY APRIL 6TH. By Jim Balentine-pr-FASTRAK NE jbalentine2@roadrunner.com Punxutawney Phil had predicted just six more weeks of winter and as race fans were eagerly anticipating the first race of the 2013 FASTRAK NORTHEAST Late Model touring series at Mercer, mother nature decided otherwise as snow and cold temperatures have postponed the first race of the season until Saturday April 6th. WIth the FASTRAK NORTHEAST series now controlled by FASTRAK owner Stan Lester, many new "fan friendly" activities will be in place for every touring show such as FIREWORKS, autograph sessions, and other driver/fan interaction events starting at Mercer. Drivers are setting their sights on defeating last years big winner Max Blair as Max has dominated the FASTRAK series the past few years. Third generation Max Blair out of Titusville,Pa driving the #111 self owned FASTRAK Late Model has been the Northeast champion four out of the past five years including last year. Max has won a record twenty-two touring events including thirty-three features last year. Following Blair is also third generation driver Mike Pegher Jr out of Wexford, Pa driving the familiar #1 Cochran FASTRAK Late Model. Mike has finished third in the touring series the past three years in a row and is second all time with fifteen series wins. Joe Martin out of Mayport, Pa has been a FASTRAK regular since 2009 in the #55 after working on Late Model standout Mike Blose's car for years. Joe has over ten career FASTRAK wins with two Touring series victories. Former Super Late Model and Emod star Chad Ruhlman out of Beamus Point,NY returned to the local scene in the #4 to finish third in his first year of FASTRAK competition. Chad picked up two wins last year including the finale at Roaring Knob. Sixteen year old Ryan Montgomery driving the #12 out of Fairmont,West Virginia will be looking to add to his two touring win total.The former Western Pa/Twin State/Sharon Rookie of the year climbed to fourth in points as part of the "young guns" in racing. Another youngster Colton Flinner car #75 out of Allison Park, Pa who picked up the FASTRAK title at PPMS will be racing full time with the touring series in 2013 looking for that elusive first touring show win. Colton has already began his season racing down south in the winter with commendable results. Andrew Sattlerlee who drives the #2 from Rochester Mills ,Pa is another driver to watch for 2013. Andrew picked up six wins last year between Dog Hollow and PPMS and was the FASTRAK Late Model track champion at Dog Hollow. Other drivers to look for is Sharon champ Will Thomas who drives the #9 out of Sharpsville ,Pa. The former asphalt star picked up two touring wins last year at Expo and also at Mercer; Chad Wright from Albion,Pa drives the #6 and won three features at Raceway 7 last year and a touring race at Sharon; Wayne Robertson #20 who from Corning NY put on a driving clinic at the world finals in Beckley WV after restarting at the rear of the field to finish 3rd in a star studded field; Matt Latta from Sagerstown,Pa does double duty driving the #21 and the B1D machine finished in the top three in points at Sharon and Raceway 7 with three wins including a touring show at Eriez. FASTRAK regulars such as veterans Bill Cunningham, Dennis Lunger Jr, Bobby Whitling, Billy Henry Jr, Kyle Zimmerman and Bob Dorman will contend with young lions Eric Wilson, Laura Longbrake and Rocky Kugel. The FASTRAK NE Touring Series will be joined by the ULMS Late Models, the FASTRAK Late Models, the UEMS Modifieds, and Mercer's Open Stocks. Gates will open at 4 p.m. An autograph session will take place at 6, with racing at 7pm. Special event ticket pricing will be in effect for the Chiller Thriller. Adult general admission will be $17. Seniors (age 60 and over) will get a two dollar discount at the front gate only. Students will be admitted for $7 and all children (ages 8 and under) are free, as usual. The economical Family Pass will be $35, which is good for up to two adults and up to four minors of any age. Pit passes will be $30. That might be the forum title, but I don't even see major news happenings from the sprint racing world posted here. :unsure: What's up with that? :rolleyes:

and considering that PPMS, Sharon, and Hummingbird do not run Sprints but they have posts on this board why cant we??? and Mercer DOES run Sprints as part of their regular show..... HOPE TO SEE ALL YOU LATE MODEL FANS SATURDAY NIGHT!!!

Big Papa himself Stan Lester and director of operations Brian Haynes are in route to Mercer PA. to complete the FASTRAK "A" TEAM----this team has some old and some new but many hours of preparation have gone into the selection and training of the team. We are excited to get the new season started and confident that the assembly of the "A" team will put on an excellent show for the fans and competitors. Big Papa himself Stan Lester and director of operations Brian Haynes are in route to Mercer PA. to complete the FASTRAK "A" TEAM----this team has some old and some new but many hours of preparation have gone into the selection and training of the team.

We are excited to get the new season started and confident that the assembly of the "A" team will put on an excellent show for the fans and competitors.

Hope to see many of our friends tomorrow at MRP.

Also the "A" team will be on hand to finish out the Lernerville show next week.
