Posted 06 May 2013 - 11:02 AM I believe he is the " head porting guy " referred to as suit case Gail because he went where ever paid him the most ... Which is all well and good except your asking Cornett / RYR money that doesn't have the dirt track mega event winning pedigree. Drive ability is more important than peak hp and both of those guys have that down pat as evidenced by their hundreds of mega event wins on dead slick as well as hammer down conditions. Think what ever you want you will be lucky to get 25k cash for that motor ..

Legend....this might be the piece that could make you a "Legend"! When I think of Cylinderheads..... two names come to mind....Gail Powley and Don Leceedo. The two best in the business! Gail has been building wining Dirt Engines for 35 years! Spent many years in this area working for Jules! Brought the first set of 18 degree cylinder heads to this area that went on Jerry Martino's car that won the Pittsburgher....driven by Bob Wearing! (1991 I think) Just now, .....most of his work is on an outsourced basis and he doesn't get the credit for it! You would be surprised how much places like R/Y outsource! And doesn't Cornett use the Don Leceedo heads (9degree) on his engines as well???? You might be surprised who all uses Gail Powley outsourced heads! Most Trade school trained mechanics can assemble a sucessful bottom end! The power curve and drivability and horsepower is all in the cylinder heads, intake, and camshaft dynamics! So Yes....I'll go with the "Head Porting Guy"! Every Time! Make you a good deal Legend!

Posted 07 May 2013 - 05:01 AM You illustrate my point by bringing up don losito of ultra pro machine .... He was the driving force behind the creation of the undriveable light switch 9 degree head .... The ones most people sold and went back to the 13 degree stuff until the 10 degree spread bore stuff came out. Ultra pro , MBE and Clements are the 3 main names in heads for dirt applications . Times change .... I'm not questioning suit case Gail's past but I haven't heard his name In 20+ years .... MiKe Tyson was the indestructible Heavy Weight champion back then ... Shit Ronaldus Magnus was president in Gail's hayday !!

Good Point Legend! Thats why Gail likes the SB2 Stuff! I have the sister to this engine in a 430( Made 794HP at 6900RPM) Very drivable and awsome midrange 4500-6500 ! Very similiar to my 12 degree stuff on the top end! Just don't need 4 engines at this stage of the game in my career! I think a lot more builders than you think use Gails CnC programs on thier heads! Man Makes awsome power .

Posted 12 May 2013 - 07:47 AM Even though it was sometime ago Stan Hover Jr. used Gale Powley engines and Larry Moore,Skip Furlow won many races driving Hover Racecars. Your both correct that cylinder heads make a dirt/pavement car drivable and that's why NASCAR teams and Dodge Pro Stock teams use Powley's back door to hide what they need done correctly. Gale doesn't like or need the limelight.

If someone truly wants to prove me wrong just hand this guy 39 k cash for this " Gail Powley " racing engine. I will publically admit I was wrong about my guesstimate of the engines worth ..
