Carl Murdick's coupe from roughly 1973
It was Carl and Junkyard Jimmy Faas, in a purple Pinto that were the only two to defeat Blackie in what was then called the Sportsman Coupe division at Lernerville in 1973. The good old days.

I recognize the maroon #77 Sprinter, Paulie Lapcevich. Who was in the gold & white #16? I don't recognize that car.

Lube was the bottom picture of the 2 coupes taken at Butler? It looks like Hesselgessers truck that we hauled with in the background in the pits.
Jim,
I don't believe that's our old Chevy truck in pic. Never had the grill bars painted white. Here's some old pics that you may like. There is nothing like the "good ole days".

Great pics Dick , it really brings back good times , that one of Dick Gills car stirrin up dust and Harrisville's peace and quiet is great. Sure is good to see the old cars again , time goes by way too fast. I hope to get to see you this summer. Liz and I go to Mercer every week to watch Mike in the G1 sprint , he usually stops to chat a bit in the stands when he comes up to see his family. He's getting good in the sprint. He was in the 410 a couple of weeks ago. Mike kept it straight while he is getting used to it , but pulled in the pits with some kind of problem. Do you have a picture of yourself in the Metropolitin coupe? Lube was asking if you had one to post. Email me and keep in touch . Thanks again.Jim,

Gene , is the 22 Sprint Dick Swarzlander in the old nail head Buick powered car? I used to work with a retired Pa. State Trooper that was looking for that car to buy and restore. He found one in Michigan , bought it and restored that one instead. I couldn't find one anywhere for him.524812_461714240563449_1800005584_n.jpg 61KB 218 downloads

Jim,
I have a couple, plus one that will bring back some good memorys for you. I wish I had some pics of the 1st Henry J Bass & I built together. Dick Swartzlander borrowed it from us for the Season Championship (I believe-1965) @ Mercer (after blowing his car up in heat race) He led the whole race untill our 308 Hudson blew with 3 laps to go. Whata Bitch !! Hope to make it back sometime this summer. Looking for Mike to make another Sportsman Champ. run @ Lernerville. Sprints make me nervous,I remember what happened to my friend Buddy Barris.

I used to ride my bike (bicycle) down to the shop to watch you and Bass build the first Henry, wasn't it called "The Vanguard"?

Thanks Dick , he made me a bit nervous Saturday night in the 410 sprint but he was keeping it straight and started to pass some cars before it broke. I only seem to have a couple of pics around here it's nice that you have some to share. Maybe we can hook up this summer.Jim,
