Lernerville and dog hollow canceled
Lernerville due to wet grounds. I'm leaning more towards low temperatures and fear of lack of crowd because of it.

They surely act as if watering the track isn't the proper way to prep it, so I can see the logic with this cancellation. That track hasn't been tacky with a cushion for the features at any point this year. Why start now?

It sure does seem like they are afraid to open up the track and let any moisture get down into it anymore.

The racing has suffered for it. The features last week were collectively slow and boring. All three regular season nights, the track has been predictable in that everyone wants the top in the heats, resulting in little or no passing. In the features, everyone is fighting for the bottom.

I disagree that a track closing is a horrible thing . In all business the strong survive and the weak fail ... If dog hollow closes thoseHad a Vendor tell me today that Dog Hollow Lost money on both of thier regular season shows so far! And that if things don't improve....they may pull the Plug in June! Sorry to hear this! I think everyone racing in the area needs to go pay a visit to Dog Hollow and keep another track running! Don't need to loose anymore tracks! So..No wonder the cancel on the Speedweek show!
Cars will just race somewhere else ...

I agree.
On one hand, it sucks for those up there that lay it it all on the line to put a show on. It's not an easy business. On the other hand, it's a supply and demand situation, like any other business that offers goods, or in this case, a service. Not enough fans or competitors are going there to pay the bills.
I've said herein for the last five or so years that there are too many tracks in this region; too many tracks that host the same cookie cutter, back gate programs. Too many support divisions, not enough interesting programs to bring in new fans and to keep them coming back. Sooner or later, there won't be enough back gate cars to go around. At some venues, we are seeing that now.
The upshot is that IF it does close, that doesn't mean it's permanent.

The problem with that is ......When there aren't many choices....people loose interest! And then you have 40 cars trying to make a 24 car field every night! And that makes it no fun! Nothing worse than going racing and not getting to race! I look at Marion Centers car counts and they are great this year! 24 supers a night! Up from like 10 last year! Wonder if the raised payout has anything to do with that??? The same Vendor also told me that Jims solution to the problem was going to be cutting the Purse or raising the Entry fees! And that he was going to have a meeting last night to discuss which option the drivers prefered! Hope it works out for him!

No they didnt i was there they had 11 to15 cars weekly, not sure you have a clue, now this year theres a bunch of clowns there from the south that cant drive, pay raise has nothing to do with it because its not substantial amount,i think cars are coming because of tire rules at the pittsburgh area tracks, tire rules are no good get rid of them or you will lack in carsMarion Center had 16 - 19 cars most nights last year with several nights over 20. There were no 10 car nights there, not sure where you got your info.
The raised pay may be adding a few though this year not arguing that fact.

I don't know that we'll ever again see a situation where 40 cars are trying to make a 24 car field, but I'm all for it. More cars = more money for the track. More cars mean that the weaker, less experienced teams don't make the feature, which in turn makes for less cautions and better racing.
Those teams that have trouble qualifying weekly will either have to step their game up, change tracks or drop down in class. God knows, there are like 30 different LM divisions around here. They should be able to find a track that gets fields of ten or twelve where they can be the proverbial big fish in the small pond. That seems to have been all the rage around here for the last dozen or so years.
