Any thoughts on these 2 guys ? It was the first time for Mason at Eldora and for him to make the race on his first try was impressive. Eldora is a track that you need a lot of seat time to figure out how to get around the joint. The same with Gregg. I believe he made the World 100 on his first try. If I am not mistaken, he has been there 4 times and made the World 100 2 times and the Dream once. I think he had mechanical issues once and failed to qualify. Correct me if I am wrong. It is my opinion that these 2 are some of the best to come out of our area in a long time..

They inverted 6 in the heat races. And I don't think Gregg has been as successful at Eldora as you paint. Outside of Chub, no local guys have been too successful out there lately. I remember cheering for David Scott at the Million. Can't wait till the World.

Zeigler ran Eldora in the fall last season. Still an impressive run, but he's been there before.

To even make the starting line up for the Dream or World 100 is an accomplishment. Very few drivers from Pennsylvania can make that claim....

I thought this was Mason's first try @ Eldora. First try @ the Dream. I still think Gregg has done well @ Eldora for this years Dream and the previous World 100's. Something our "local" guys have failed to do. Just making the race is something to behold for these two guys. Outside of Chub the only other guy to do well is Davey Johnson who set fast time one year. Gregg making the World twice tells me he has done really well at the "Big E".

Ok i need to chime in now that you mentioned local guys failure above.you need to understand that not every local racer has the time or funds to run events like that so to call them failures is just wrong,do you realize the cost involved to tow to and enter an event like that,i bet not,but when you get on here and mention failure thats just not right. JMO.

agreed. there are alot of good drivers around here locally. last year at the Ultimate, Rich Gardner was Bad Fast on Saturday night. but he hit the wall ending his night if im not mistaken. if he wouldn't have had Bad Luck on his side, I think he would have Won that night. he was faster than Eckert, satterlee, and all those guys.

How is hitting the wall bad luck? Part failure is bad luck, another car wrecking in front of him is bad luck. Hitting the wall is a driver error.... I wasn't there, but to say he would have won had he not wrecked himself is silly, because those other guys didn't hit the wall and finished ahead of him. In order to finish first, you must first finish. Correct?

I'm not missing the point at all, I'm just pointing out something that people always say that annoys me. Yes he was fast, but clearly he shouldn't have won or he would have barring bad luck (which doesn't include wrecking yourself). There's lots of local guys that have equipment just as good as the 22 and are just as fast as him no doubt and maybe even some that are as good of drivers. I get that.

SprintFun Gregg has been to the World/Dream 6 times. He has qualified for them the last 3 times he has attempted (I would call that pretty successful). Over the past few years he has not participated in the Dream and World on occasion due to scheduling conflicts with the AMS and 3SF series (As he was busy winning the 3SF point title). Inverting 6 in the heat race happens all the time out there. Correct me if I am wrong... but your post lead me to believe that you are using that as the excuse as to why he and Zeigler made the race this year.

If the invert was 4 I doubt this thread would exist. Just saying have to consider where they started.

Good run for both in their heat.

I'm not saying you're wrong about there being lots of good drivers around here. That hasn't went over my head. What's going over your head is the fact that your comment was stupid. To say that hitting the wall is bad luck is just plain stupid. That's the only point I was making and debating.

If there was no invert mason would have started 4th. So by inverting 6 he started 3rd.
So the invert didn't really do him any favors. He ran well all weekend, including respectable times in time trials.

listen man, all im sayin is theres a lot of really good drivers around here, and you're making the biggest deal over whether it was bad luck or not. maybe it makes your balls feel bigger, I don't know. that's not my problem.
