Jason Leffler took a real bad crash tonight at Bridgeport. The NJ State Police, who oversee motorsports in NJ have cancelled the remainder of the program... The car is still on the track awaiting the NJSP investigators. Please keep Jason in your thoughts and prayers

For the first time in my life I wish I wasn't at the track. It happened right in front of me. The car just hooked sideways on the straight away and smashed the wall nearly at full speed and proceeded to flip 2 times. God Speed Jason.

Very sad news indeed!! Sometimes these bad days all seem to come at once. We just lost a Sprint Car driver in Indiana about two weeks ago and two Legend car drivers lost their life in a single crash out west. We just have to pray there will be no more for a long time to come!! Racing is safer today than it ever was, but it will never be completely safe. God be with Jason's family and R.I.P. Jason. Walt

Did it look like something broke in the car? And was it head injuries of some sort?

RIP Jason Leffler

Another member said the NJ state police cancelled the races and the car was left on the track. Does it basically turn into a crime scene and they go investigate it?

I believe the state of New Jersey regulates all forms of auto racing there.

From what I've read, any accident involving a motor vehicle that someone is killed in becomes an automatic crime scene and the State Police investigate including on a race track.

Yes, the state police treat it as a crime scene, and shut down the area. The track is not allowed to do anything with the car once the driver is removed. They had to leave it set on the front straight. Can't say if something broke or not, as he approximately 1/4 of the way down the straight and the front of the car just sort of bounced head on into the wall. The impact was just so loud.
