You know what I had not been to an asphalt race since I was working with an ARCA team in 2005. We ended up going to Motordrome on Friday Night and I was blown away by the crowd. The front straightaway stands were packed, the hillside was packed, and the back straightaway stands were packed. The big thing that I thought was really fan friendly was for the younger fans that were under 12 years old were admitted free. It seemed like there was a lot more casual fans there and that is great for the sport. I can't imagine the crowd Motordrome will get on July 5th for $5 night.

I like all racing. Be it asphalt or dirt it doesn't matter to me.
Back in the day of the Motordrome 70 Speedway if you went to the mid-week Summer Sizzler late model shows you had better get there early because if you didn't you were parking down at the truck stop.

Same here. I have raced on both ovals and road courses and have learned to enjoy all different types of racing. I know the car counts weren't great on Friday at Motordrome but the racing was great, especially the charger class.

I was a little disapointed in the car counts when we first got there, but after thinking about it, it was the first race of the season, and under new management once again, so I'm hoping the success of this show will help bring in some more cars for the next one. I wasn't really surprised that there weren't any street stocks, pure stocks or fwd's. As for the racing, the Stock car series race was pretty good, the winner led from flag to flag, but was under heavy pressure most of the race. The late model race started out with some excitement and ended with some too! The only more exciting finish I can imagine in that race is if Russel and Fullone would have crossed the line side by side. I know there are things that can be improved on, but from a racing standpoint, both races were great in my opinion. I'm glad they are taking a chance at running a few shows and I hope more teams come out for the next ones. The crowd wasn't huge by any stretch of the imagination, but it was better than the two late model shows last year. I know I had a good time, and I can't wait till the next one!

I've heard a lot of good feedback about the actual racing.

We will keep working to get the car counts and fan counts up.

Thanks for the support!

For those who didn't attend, I will have highlights and interviews on this week's "Pit Pass". I will say this to all of the haters and skeptics out there... the announcer made a good point that these drivers didn't "drive through" one another. Granted, there weren't many cars to fill an entire race with side-by-side action... yet there were passes that were methodically set up while racing bumper-to-bumper and door-to-door. I'd much rather watch that than some of the "caution-every-two-laps" stuff I've seen at some dirt tracks where it takes 7 to 8 laps just to get the field realigned... only to have another crash a lap or two later. There's a difference between a race and a demolition derby.

Host of "Pit Pass". Mondays at 6:00PM on WHVL-TV. Online at www.whvl.com. racing@whvl.com I like: fast cars, loud music and pretty women. Or, is that loud cars, pretty music and fast women? Can't remember. Damn Alzheimer's!!!

Well said Ron. I've heard from multiple fans how good the racing was.

As we get rolling at CNB I anticipate car and fan counts will go up and we'll see continued growth and some great racing.

Ron: I'm looking for the final results in all divisions, do you have them?
