BOSS Ready to Attack the Monster Half Mile at PPMS

With four of the scheduled fourteen events completed, the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series is poised to attack the biggest track on the series' schedule. Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway, known as racing's "Monster Half Mile" will play host as the points battle really begins to heat up. Evans City, Pennsylvania driver Brandon Spithaler currently holds a single point lead over last years points runner-up Tony Beaber of Gibsonburg, Ohio. Spithaler has already scored a win this season to help vault him into the points lead, while Beaber, like last season, has proven consistency will keep you in the hunt for a championship.

Thus far, in four events, there has not been a repeat winner in the BOSS series, which has already seen eighty-seven different drivers compete. The series has averaged over 33 cars per event and seen winners from 4 different states. Last years BOSS events at PPMS averaged 24 cars, and series officials expect another nice turnout for this event which will feature a $1,400 to win 25 lap feature event that guarantees $300 to start.

Previous BOSS winners at PPMS are Andre Layfield of Grafton, West Virginia and Jack Sodeman of North Jackson, Ohio. Layfield has already indicated his intention to defend his win of the spring event of 2012 and he will be in attendance this weekend. In addition to Layfield, Beaber, and Spithaler, fans can expect to see the rest of the BOSS travelers including Mike Miller of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Aaron Middaugh of Polk, Ohio, Kirk Jeffries of Westerville, Ohio, Chad Wilson of Toledo, Ohio, defending BOSS champion Dustin Smith of Russiaville, Indiana, Michael Fischesser of Cincinnati, Ohio, Adam Miller from McDonald, PA, and Chuck Wilson from Perrysburg, Ohio.

Fans will also be delighted to see the return of legendary Johnny Beaber of Gibsonburg, Ohio. Once a star of the sprint car circuit in Western PA, Beaber has been semi-retired the last few seasons. However, on the heels of a successful runner-up campaign by his son Tony in 2012, Johnny Beaber has returned in the teams second car and already scored a win in a BOSS B-Feature at Fremont Speedway in May.

In addition to the BOSS traveling stars, fans can expect several local drivers to participate. One local driver will be making a triumphant return to the speedway. Pennsylvania driver Charlie Cornelius became the first sprint car in PPMS history to leave the track as he flipped out into the trees off turn #1 in the fall event last year.

Pit gates will open at 4 pm and pit passes are $35 each. PPMS does NOT require mufflers. Raceceivers are required and once again Precise Racing will be providing transponders free of charge. Heat race events for this event will be sponsored by Underground Professionals Inc., Kistler Engines, and Ham Signs. Heat races will pay $50, $30, and $20 respectively to the top 3 finishers in each heat. There is no tire rule with BOSS, but Lias Tire American Racer and Hoosier Tire Midwest will both be awarding bonuses to the highest finisher on all four of their tires. Other bonus awards will be sponsored by Horne Performance of Dayton, Ohio, Buckeye Machine and Fabrication of Forest, Ohio and Ernie's Radiator Repair of Ashland, Ohio.
