Why should Hummingbird switch to Fridays or even Sun!!!!?????? Hummingbird and Marion Center have been Sat. for over 10 years. Why because a new guy comes on the block and every thing has to change!!??? Can't they change?? Rumors have started, AND that is all they are!! Dumb RUMORS . Hummingbird is NOT closing or shutting down. Hope you are safe from the high waters up that way !! Bob SullingerWhat if? Switch of race nights to Friday.
Run super and steel blocks together.
Add crate lates as there are plenty of them out there this year.
Drop the pure stocks.
Run street stocks also.
Would the fans and drivers and owners support this?
Would this help fill the gap left by Dog Hollow plus increase car counts and fans?
The rumors started on this site this week so why not shake things up a bit to help them get more cars and thus more fans on Friday, or even Sunday.
Please feel free to express your opinions here so that the Bird can see for themselves if this is possible. I think it is.

Id rather see Windber, Ebensburg, and Challenger open back up and take a trip back to the 90's when racing was thriving. What if? Switch of race nights to Friday.

At one time they also raced Sundays. Before that there was only two classes of cars and you got paid a percentage of what came thru the gate. Jennerstown was 3/8 mile dirt. Indiana fair grounds in the afternoon. Greater Latrobe Speedway, with Modifieds and Sportsmans that were mostly 308 Hudsons and flathead fords, Why should they go back to Fridays they had 40, 50 years ago. Wasn't there tracks that raced Wens. and Thurs all summer 50, 60 years ago!!!Marion Center run Friday Nites back in the 60's & 70's why not them go back to it?

why should they. how about to survive for example you cant tell me bob that the track is happy with 10 latemodels per week not to mention the other classes,i thought you would understand his post but apparently everyone wants to kick there feet and wine about changing something to improve the track so you and all the others keep having your little hissy fits and see where that gets you.Why should Hummingbird switch to Fridays or even Sun!!!!?????? when Jeff Taylor bought A.M.P. i was told (rumor) that he contacted Hummingbird about maybe some sort of a compromise on the scheduling so they would not be killing one track or another , but was told there was no interest in doing anything like that because Hummingbird ran Saturday night and that was that . now i don't need Bob or Dave or anyone sending me a p.m . and trying to start something i am just telling you what i was told ...look at from a racers point of view ....A.M.P. has a point fund at the end of the year and probably a banquet also ... half of the 50/50 goes into that fund as well as 5 dollars from each pit pass sold and most of the cars that were running Hummingbird was from the Clearfield / Philipsburg general area where did you think they were going to race .... NOBODY i know is mad at Louie ..NOBODY !!!! it just makes more business sense to race close to home then drag 40 miles one way each week .Hummingbird is not going to switch nights and A.M.P. keeps getting more cars each week.that is how it is going to be . The strong will survive and the weak will fade away. I for one hope Hummingbird can survive it is a great place to race at and Louie is truly one in a million and a good man.
Agree with all you said BUT the bird could do SOMETHING to improve their show. Have a special, bring in a different class once in a while. How about increasing the pay a little. I will give AMP credit, they are trying. Owner has personally called drivers that were there and ask their opinion, thanked them and asked them to come back. Bird is doing NOTHING different and AMP has had an impact on car counts. Neither track is doing real great from what I see.

I heard he went to the Bird to ask about have a two track points deal and noone would talk him and was actually escorted out so he went somewhere else and made a deal.when Jeff Taylor bought A.M.P. i was told (rumor) that he contacted Hummingbird about maybe some sort of a compromise on the scheduling so they would not be killing one track or another , but was told there was no interest in doing anything like that because Hummingbird ran Saturday night and that was that . now i don't need Bob or Dave or anyone sending me a p.m . and trying to start something i am just telling you what i was told ...look at from a racers point of view ....A.M.P. has a point fund at the end of the year and probably a banquet also ... half of the 50/50 goes into that fund as well as 5 dollars from each pit pass sold and most of the cars that were running Hummingbird was from the Clearfield / Philipsburg general area where did you think they were going to race .... If you really think about this it might not be a bad idea. Keep the same divions he has start at 730 maybe throw a special in or a305 sprint race or modifieds. This could really work it would be a big step for them but I think they could pull it off.
No doubt. In fact, they wouldn't have to jump right in. They could schedule a special or two on a Friday nite to test the waters. Say,SS't and 305's or LM's and Micros..... I think it would work. The track layout is more conducive to better racing in my view.

I agree, Friday is a difficult night, especially if you have a long tow. In todays economy people cant take Friday afternoon off.racing on a Friday night does not work for one simple reason that is why dog hollow and thunder mountain and remember Gamblers raceway tried Fridays too along with central p.a speedway also , they had such low car counts and this came from a guy who tried it ( not me another guy ) you have to get everything ready the night before and get loaded up then work all day Friday then drag your already tired a$$ to the track and try to put on a show .Sundays would be a better day you can record the NASCAR race and watch the last lap and you are good . run 3 or 4 divisions and start at 6 o' clock .but like i said before i hope Hummingbird can survive and pick up cars , i hope the best for them but they are not about to switch.
