The kid can wheel a car no doubt....but what gets me he is ALLWAYS starting up front atleast the last 10+ times I've watched races were he's been...when you have the best money can buy and you constantly start up front of coarse your gonna win with virtually no effort. Now Blankenships performance last night was 2nd to none until he broke 16th to 2nd is worth talking about all day...JMO

I'd be willing to bet Blankenship has more money backing him than the top 10 combined.... ;)

He's always starting up front because he qualifies well. Being a good qualifier takes you a long, long way in the world of big time late model racing.

You hit the nail on the head. Jared Miley, who is a great racer, always has mediocre qualifying times, and always begins these big shows in the hole. Qualifying is everything in these races.

In response to the Blankenship deal. He does and probably still does have a lot of money behind him. His old man, Don Blankenship was the former CEO of Massey Energy. He was and probably still is worth millions. The Feds were trying to hang the creep for conspiracy to violate Federal mining law. This all started after the deaths of 29 miners in his Upper Big Branch mine in West Virginia in 2010. If in doubt, just Google "Don Blankenship" and see for yourself.

Richards is funded by Tony Stewart AND Rocket Chassis. He probably has the upper leg on Blankenship. I don't see how guys like Clint Smith and Chub can afford to keep touring with the outlaws. They seem to always struggle to make the main events. Im guessing they make more on shirt sales than actual racing. They can't be breaking even $$ wise. Then again, maybe they have hidden millionaires funding them too. I can't imagine the funding it takes for those haulers, feeding and paying a 4 man crew, and maintaining a 50k Roush Yates engine. Unreal

If you would realize that Blankenship had nothing to do with what his Dad has done. But he is reaping the rewards for what the Massey Coal Company gave someone (his father) who should be in jail instead of taking a LARGE retirement package and getting away with POSSIBLY the responsibility of putting coal miners lives in danger. And do not doubt that he could bankroll the top 10 teams.

Way back when, before he was amongst the best of the best, he used to run Lernerville fairly often. He knows the track better than most of his compatriots with the WoO. Whether his dad rents the track during (WTF is doring? Are we talking Dangerous Danny Doring from ECW?) the year or not, he's going to be fast. A bunch of other cars usually show up at those test sessions too, and they weren't winning the Firecracker. Hell, some of them didn't even make the Firecracker.

Oh, and anybody can rent the track to test if they want. Richards happens to, and he's even nice enough to invite some of his customers to come to. Other drivers could rent it and be better at Lernerville too, but they choose not to, becase they live hundreds, if not thousands of miles away.

Oh, and if Lernerville track time is all it takes to be good there, how come Chub Frank still sucks?

 Chub looked terrible, then again so did Mars. Satterlee hasn't run there all year and impressed me more than anyone. Then again he also has the $$.

What I meant was it makes the race all the more while to watch a car/driver come from mid to back pack and get up front...eg: T-Mac at Charlotte 2011 world finals in BB mod feature started 8th got to the front blew a tire went to back. Came back out dead last made his way back to the front got caught up in lap traffic mêlée went back into pits. Get his car fixed come back out again with a solid field of 20+cars in the back worked his way back up front to take the checkerd flag...I think Richards is very capable from coming from behind to win, that would show the talent, patience,& skills of a great driver, watched Bloomer do the same thing at muskingum a cpl yrs back as well
