So whats everones take on this flag? Should it be used or be tossed away and never be used again? I feel if a car is going to get lapped that the leader has been watching the lapped cars movement on the track before getting ready to pass it. So with that being said when a flagman waves that flag does it mean "hold you line" or "move over"? I feel that it does no good at all to use, and it more than often creates more trouble than better. So tell me what you all think about this blue with a yellow stripe flag.

Since you don't have mirrors or a spotter " hold your line"

I think the flag is still very important & should be used. From being on both ends of this at times i agree with "hold your line". Many tracks dont use the flag any longer. It really boils down to knowing your about to be overtaken & show respect for cars doing so. Most of the time when lead cars get tangled up with lapped cars is at tracks that feel the flag is of no use anymore.

I highly disagree with just rolling over and playing dead. On some of these little bullrings, with 20+ cars, the top 3 or 4 may be the only ones on the lead lap. If I am racing for 5th and about to be lapped, Im not gonna just loose my run and give up the place, let the leaders go around. If your totally off the pace, that's one thing, but it needs to be looked at on many different levels.

most tracks can talk to the drivers now, if the guy on the radio directing the racing is doing his job, you don't need that flag.

should be "hold your line" in my opinion. if a leader is coming up on a lapper in a hurry on the outside, and said lapper "moves over" what direction will he go 90% of the time? to the outside.

You should hold your line and the leader should be paying attn where to pass you. I never believed the flagman should tell you to move down, the leader could already be heading there.

The term "layover flag" is somewhat of a misnomer. I have had drivers tell me that what it is used for is as others have stated: for those about to be over taken by the leaders to simply hold their line. It isn't an indicator by someone about to be lapped to move to the inside.

I always agree with Stacy !: But you should know the flags too and They are needed to back up the Raciever voice that isn't always 100%.. Everyone should know that the Blue and yellow flag means the leader is coming so either " keep your line " or do whatever you need to do to race the guy your racing with in a structured way ... so the leader can make his decision ,, but noway does that mean just pull over !
