Fab Four Racing/Nostalgia Night is cancelled for Friday, August 9

Sarver, PA (August 9, 2013) The combination of rain yesterday and again this morning, along with an iffy forecast the rest of the evening has forced Lernerville Speedway management to cancel tonight’s Fab Four Racing program and postponed tonight’s Nostalgia Night activities. Nostalgia Night and the $1,700-to-win Dave Hoffman Memorial have been rescheduled for next Friday, August 16 and the MRO Injured Drivers Benefit Auction has been rescheduled for Friday, August 23. Fab Four Racing will continue every Friday in August through Championship Night on August 31.

Tomorrow’s forecast looks delightful and we’d like to invite you to support local racing at one of our regional tracks; Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway, Mercer Raceway Park, Sharon Speedway and Marion Center Speedway will all be in action tomorrow night to see some of the stars and cars that call Lernerville Speedway home on Friday Nights. We’d also like to wish continued good luck to former Track Champions Ed Lynch Jr., Dale Blaney, Tim Shaffer and Danny Holtgraver as they, along with Jimmy Light, represent Western Pennsylvania at the 53rd Annual Knoxville Nationals! You can listen live to the Knoxville Nationals tonight and tomorrow night for FREE at www.DIRTVision.com!

I agree with badass bowtie. You guys were way too quick on the trigger this time, and should have waited a couple hours and looked at the radars again. Now it looks like the rain is done for the night, and you're gonna wind up with a whole chicken farm full of egg on your face. You missed this one badly.

Work few miles from track. hasn't rained since 7AM. guess they cant afford have someone run track in. Looks like rain is over till next week. Nice evening find somewhere else spend my money. :o

They had a heavy downpour from 8 to about 9 then nothing after that..

The reason they gave for canceling was 4 out of 5 forecasts showed rain till 8PM tonight.

At 12PM when they canceled, It looked like they were going to have another shower at about 2-3PM, then nothing after that.

It missed them and now the sun is poking out, I agree the decision was made too soon, but we did have about 1.6 inches of rain since Thursday morning.

With the moisture in the ground it sure would have been a good night of racing. One of these days when they cancel because there is a 30%-40% chance of rain people are going to get tired of it and then they'll have a 30%-40% chance of fans showing up.

If they had waited another couple hours to pull the trigger, they'd never have pulled it, because they'd have known by following the radar for those 2 extra hours that they'd have been OK to run.

The call was probably made prematurely. It's not like they have a pattern of this kind of stuff the way other area tracks do, so chalk it up to human error. It happens.

I live 2 miles north of track,it poured all night Thursday. Friday morning it rained buckets for a couple hours. The parking would have been very bad for the fans,I'm sure that would be the main reason.

High 70's, sunny blue skies and no racing! Just another example of how little the current track management thinks of its race fans. They pulled the trigger way too quickly this time. More effort should have been given to get the race in due to the fact that the season is nearly over, the championship battles are tightly contested and for those who put in so much effort planning Nostalgia Night. I am sure there will be those who will not be available for next week's Nostalgia Night. Other losers in this are all the sponsors who have paid good money to put their name out there at the track and on race cars and were cheated out of a weeks advertising. Shame on you Lernerville Management!

You'd bitch if they hung you with a new rope.

A guy posted how much it rained Thursday and Friday morning. I think the fact that it was Nostalgia Night was another reason they cancelled. It's a lot to ask many of the old timers, some who no doubt have health issues, to come down on a night when the weather is shaky and the grounds are less than 100%.

No question they could have raced, and yes, they probably cancelled a little early. But they've been fortunate this summer which has been downright cruel to many other area tracks weather wise.

And if they would have raced and cars were getting stuck in the parking lot, haulers getting stuck in the pits, and a heavy rough track that tore up cars the same dildos would be here b1tching and whining they shouldn't have raced.....

Maybe the track is actually saving money by not having a show. I wouldn't be surprised since it took them a few weeks to scrunge together the payout checks to the Firecracker drivers.
