**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE** August 10th, 2013 FASTRAK PR
(Conneaut, Ohio) – The 10th Touring event for FASTRAK Northeast Touring Division was the final visit of the 2013 season at the Raceway 7 located in Conneaut, Ohio in front of a packed house. The $1,500 to win bout was a wild intense night of racing for Night #1 of the “Night of Fire”. When the night ended Max Blair would then go on to dominate a CAUTION FREE event at Raceway 7. The victory seemingly is getting him closer to contention of locking up the 2013 FASTRAK Northeast Championship.
In VP Race for the Pole Qualifying #111 of Titusville, Pennsylvania native and current Northeast Points Leader Max Blair got the winning night started off by setting quick time around the 7/16th mile with an 18.550 second lap.
The Heat Races we’re very exciting and offered just an appetizer before the main course – 25 Lap A-Main Events. Chevy Performance Heat race #1 had #21* Billy Henry and #111 Max Blair battling for position when on lap 3 battling for the point, contact was made between the two sending Henry’s car like a cannon hard into the outside barrier. The decision was made that Blair got into him forcing him to be sent to the rear. That didn’t stop Blair though has he rallied back to the front taking Chevy Performance Heat #1.
In RockAuto.com Heat #2 it was a 3 car battle for the victory between #B1D Matt Latta, #14 Dan Angelicchio and #6 Chad Wright. They bumped and banged lap after lap fighting for the top spot. In the late going #6 Chad Wright who suffered a mechanical fire after his qualifying time got into the left rear of #11 Robby Rohrer sending his car off the ground on the backstretch and forcing him to back down and settle for a Top 5 in the heat. After that transpired #14 Dan Angelicchio did all he could to rally by #B1D Matt Latta but it wasn’t enough has the Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania native took down RockAuto.com Heat #2.
In VP Race Fuels Heat #3 #19 Michael Mitchell and #9 Breyton Santee made contact at the firing line getting the field to stack up behind them collecting #92 Joel Watson and #6p Jim Long who raced tonight for the 1st time in 2 years. Once they got straightened out Santee was hung out to dry on the start exiting turn 3 and caused him losing the lead to #19 Michael Mitchell which made an open book shut case put Mitchell to take the checkers in VP Race Fuels Heat #3.
After the special driver introductions and after the conclusion of the “Night of Fire” Fireworks pyrotechnics spectacular for the fans the field was ready to go to work with the 25 lap 1st race feature in this weekend’s double header weekend “Night of Fire”.
At the drop of the Green flag it stayed that way the entire 25 lap Feature as #111 “MAD” Max Blair was simply on FIRE for Race #1 “Night of Fire” at Raceway 7. Blair taking down the win pocketed his 5th FASTRAK Northeast Touring Division win of the 2013 season going CAUTION FREE the entire feature. Nobody had anything for Blair as he cruised on to the victory and the only battle he really faced was getting by lap traffic a time or two. The only non-caution problems was on lap #2 when #16 Dereck Frank got into the wall in turn one but retired to the infield as did the #6p Jim Long. The problem with #21* Billy Henry was the only incident that likely could have caused a yellow but he made it to the infield safely. #B1D Matt Latta and #19 Michael Mitchell we’re able to hang with each other but settled for the Top 3. #71L Dennis Lunger and #11 Josh Holtgraver had a great little battle between them to round out the Top 5. Max Blair’s margin of victory was 5.560 seconds from 1st to 2nd at the finish.
