Saturday August 17 is going to be a very special night at the Hagerstown Speedway. It is “Back to School” night and “Christmas in August. That’s right the kids get to take a ride around the half mile oval in a race car and they will see Santa Claus. Santa will be greeting everyone from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Don’t forget your cameras. It is the 18th Annual Cornett Tribute 20 lap Pure Stock Special , plus the Late Model Sportsman and the Hobby Stocks. See these three very popular divisions compete in heat races and feature events. Bring a new toy for “Toys For Tots” and receive a $2 off coupon for another event at the Capitol of Dirt Track Racing. Gates open at 5 PM with racing at 7 PM. For latest news, results at www.hagerstownspeedway.com. Also on twitter and facebook. Hagerstown Speedway is located 6 miles west of Hagerstown on Route 40. I've been going to Hagerstown since the early 1970s, and it's always been one of my favorites, but it's really sad that such an important venue no longer runs Super Late Models on a weekly basis. They do have plenty of specials, but there is no substitute for weekly racing.

I enjoy going to Winchester also, hope to make it down there in September. Still remember the Winchester 200 when it was really 200 laps!!
