Who wants to see 2 or 3 cars in the King, and some who show up once in a while and for the last race. With the amount of money that UNOH throws into their racing program and their trip to Fla. Why not reward the ones who support the track all year long. Take the top 6 in points at the end of the year and put them into the King. Just dont pay the winner throw in some money to reward those who finish in the top 6. That would maybe bring in more people to run during the season and draw more cars every week. It would be some thing like the chase in Nascar if they want to have a nascar track run a King chase for all 3 divisions. Make it worth a racers while to support the track on a regular basis and get some people to throw in some prizes for each finishing spot in the king like tires shocks and other products. Take care of your local racer who races every week and not some who show up when ever they want and try to cash in on some pocket money. The fans want to see a good King not just 2 or 3 cars like this year, and with the rain outs and a shorter season its gonna cut down on the chances for some to win a feature. Open up the King and make it fun for the racer and fans. JUST A THOUGHT

Id like to see it be the top 5 in points ONLY if there is less than 5 winners, then you take the highest guys in the top 5 in points who havent won an a-main. Maybe a Fricke's Choice? I dunno. Either way, at least 5 cars start the KOTQ. This would also prevent people from their spinout tactics. Could be 2nd? Meh, well now your gonna have to pass 4 cars instead of 1 because you got a bad start.

My vote is to keep it the same. I think it would take away some of the meaning if you started letting "anyone" in. It seems to be a difficult task to win a feature at Lima. Those that do should feel honored and that is what the king is about. I however do like the idea of a "select" race. Especially if it was based off of passing points or average finish or something like that. Then every year "invite" back previous winners if they don't qualify. Just my opinion of something different. I feel that no more than 6 maybe 8 cars in a ten or twelve lap race is plenty.

My vote is to keep it the same , you have to win it to be in it (a feature ). the only thing I would like to see changed is do away with the drawing for positions. if you win the most features you should start on the pole and so on. if you win only one race you would be lined up in the order the races were won so if you win the last night and that is the only night you win you will be starting last. support the drivers that support you.

Id like to see them at least add the champions onto the field. Perfect example was this year JR and Butch win the title but no races (consistency) but they dont get to run in the big race at the end of the year???? Champions should definitely be added on if they have not won a race. I like the way they draw for the line up tho randomly is the best way to go

I disagree on the champions getting in the king race, Just because you where the most constant top finisher for the year!! Should not allow you to run that race. Its like second place!!! That makes you the first looser and someone will always be the first looser.
That would be like saying give it to the last place person in points that ran ever week, just because you ran every week don't get you a starting spot. You must win a race period.

So your saying the champ is second place? They WON the titles why should they not be in the king? What your saying makes zero sense Not just cuz you were the most consistent but because your the champ you should be in there being called champion is better than being called a race winner Edited by KO_23, 23 August 2013 - 01:15 AM. #9Posted 23 August 2013 - 09:04 AM
So who had the better season????
JR Stewart 0 wins and track championship??
OR??
Randy Hannagan 5 wins, 2nd in points, and King of 1/4 mile Champ????
NOTE......Randy missed a week for knoxville nationals is the only reason he is not champ.
Not taking anything away from JR but just stating the facts!!

It makes perfect sense towards the king race, They never won a race all year and do not get to run the king race, Thus far make you the second place loose for the king race and king race only. So they sit and watch all the past winners run the race from the sideline, Like all the others that did not win a race either on the year. #12Posted 23 August 2013 - 07:50 PM
Just my 2 cents worth this has been a silly season. A shorter racing season, the rain outs, Two guys dominate the sprints with wins no championship, the champ is one who didnt win a race, the stunts pulled in the King Of the 1/4 mile. Then the domination in the 2 other classes, Just a very strange silly season. Some might not think so but it just seems that way.

I believe all the tracks should be running until late October every year in Ohio? That is the way it was when I was growing up up north and with the way the seasons have shifted over the last 6-8 years the dates rained out in the spring could easily be ran in the fall or combined with already scheduled fall events. I know the first thing that will come out of this will be someone crying about high school football, well if your a race fan/football fan you have a choice to make then, and if your kids are playing high school ball, then we will see you back at the track during the fall in 4 years! Everyone bitches about tracks losing money when they could easily still be open???
Wait and see how nice the weather will be between now and the end of October with the local tracks around the Lima area now closed, when they could be making an attempt at some more revenue and keeping our sport alive and well instead of closing up shop early to football or running off to nascar races or whatever it is they do this time of year? If they are understaffed I'm sure there are plenty of us die hards that would be more than happy to step up and help out this time of year, I know I would!
There are a few tracks that still carry on the traditional fall season - somewhat? Thanks to Fremont Speedway for giving us an extra month of racing and Eldora, Gas City, and now Atomic which I hope they consider fall as part of their season next year.
I have kept my ticket stubs since the mid-70's so I can prove that times have changed even way before the seasons did.
Ok fire away @ my $2 worth...............lol

Still waiting to win a race let alone a championship so speaking from a fans point of view I say let any previous champ at the track in along with feature winners for the year. If you want the kings title then I would think you would want to beat the very best. So guys like babcock, barney, gossard, anderson....all would be qualified. Now throw them in with valenti, koz, and the 7c and now you have race worth calling king of the 1/4 mile. No guarantee the previous champs show but I bet the fans would like to see this format. Oh and the line up should be in order of most races won that yr. Ties in that category would be solved by who won there race (s) first. So guys that ran all yr at least start ahead of guys who didn't win and or start ahead of the provisional champion starters.

As for a fan in the stands who wants to put on a show with just a couple of cars who dominated the whole season, and some one who shows up for the last race of the year.
Then you have two local cars where the driver is getting paid to drive and two past champions in Brecht and Dussel who would drive those cars in a heart beat with out pay. Just a little sour grapes to me. If you want fans in the stands put on a show , not a spin out restart derby with fans booing.
Edited by blackflagmanwhaa, 04 September 2013 - 06:44 PM. #17Posted 04 September 2013 - 07:23 PM this race is just for that....the guys that did all the winning all year to go at it for 10 laps. Lima has the best competition anywhere so to win a race is huge, and title is even more prestigious so why not let best settle it on the track. Just my opinion, and maybe someday I will be lucky enough to be on the track for the kings...if that happens you won't hear any complaints from me Reply to this topic1 user(s) are reading this topic0 members, 1 guests, 0 anonymous users |
