Wow, as we approach the former Pittsburgher weekend, now the new date for The Tri State Championships, I can't help but to reflect back. How times have changed, the Pittsburgher was practically the only special event running on the entire eastern half of the US! Not anymore! Please get out and support your local speedway this weekend. As we all know, the sport in general has been struggling in recent years for a multitude of reasons...lets all do our part this weekend and join the action, invite a friend, take someone for the first time...lots of great events this weekend!

Thanks to the NDRL and a new date Oct 10-12, the Pittsburgher 100 is poised to return to crown jewel status for the first time since the old STARS days. It is shaping up as a must see event. Enjoy the racing in your area this weekend and make plans to join us in Pittsburgh PA oct 12 for the 25th running of the Pittsburgher, Monster Half Mile $25,000 NDRL style!

Is there a reason why they are not running a sportsman special as well?? Something like a $1000 to win, open rules, heats Friday and feature Saturday???

The NDRL isn't in the back gate support class business, and the Pittsburgher is going to be run entirely by them.

There would be more money out there if they did bring in 35 sportsman cars and crew but I can understand that

It has the possibility to be the show of the year. Hopefully you see 50 -75 slm

Yeah I tried to do my Dad's Memorial Race that weekend- $2,000 to win and open rules but with the NDRL it just didn't work out. I'd like to make it a "Little Guys" type event in the future. We did get 36 cars this year, would love to make it even bigger in 2014.

With the three classes already scheduled to race on Pittsburgher weekend they are concerned about both pit space for the haulers and the time it will take to qualify and run full programs for the three divisions both nights. There's just no room for another division that weekend.

Yeah, pit parking is going to be especially tight Pittsburgher weekend, considering they're running three divisions that will bring around 50 cars each, which means 150 or so cars and a good 1/2 to 3/4 of them haul their equipment in toters/stackers.

Why not make it the 1st race of the 2014 season? or atleast 1 of the 1st races....logic being less before hand races less broken cars plus every sportsmans class driver to try n get back some off season "expenses" rite off the bat... just a thought 1st sportsman race of the year $1500+ to win....

Pits will be lined off and divisions will have specific parking areas. Should be plenty of room.
