they tried friday before didn't they? and sunday? don't think either ever worked to great but i agree that there are to many saturday night tracks in the areaI think amp needs to move Friday nights. there would be better car counts for all tracks because now theres hummingbird, marion center, and them all close to each other that run sat and only a coulpe tracks that run Fridays around. who all agrees

AMP Has no plans to switch nights, like was said in a previous post, When Hidden Valley Speedway was an established Saturday night track, the Bird reopened against them, and I'd heard from many it was to "Shut HVS Down!"
AMP merely opened on the night it was built for, so why switch nights if it's working. And I know people disagree, but I heard from a couple people that Jeff went to the Bird and wanted to discuss working together and he was escorted off the property before having a chance.
Do me a favor and ask JEFF if it is true that he was ever at Hummingbird and "escorted off the property". Or, for that matter, if he's ever spoken to anybody at Hummingbird (and, if so, WHO). And... Speaking of rumors (again), there is no truth to the Hummingbird being re-opened to shut HVS down.

And I've "heard from many" that HVS was built to "Shut Marion Center Down" and look who's on their third owner and which track will be starting its 48th consecutive season in 2014 owned by the same family....

You guys can spank your keyboards to your hearts content, the point is moot. AMP will be racing Saturdays for the 2014 season. After the Chili race on the 5th excavation will begin to enlarge and reconfigure the racing surface. Other improvements will include more lighting, electronic scoreboard, better pit PA system and continued improvements around the grounds. The entire place has come a long way in the past year and Jeff is committed to continuing to improve the facility. See you at the races tomorrow night for the Stephanie Eckl Memorial for the ULMS late models plus Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, and 4 cylinders.
Yeah, I don't get the school of thought that a track that has been successful should change it's night either. All these Saturday night racks coexisted rather happily this season, I see no reason why they can't continue to do so going into the future.

How many of these amp / hummingbird Heros are coming to the pittsburgher ??
I'm going to go ahead and guess that zero AMP/Hummingbird locals go to PPMS. They just don't seem to travel outside of their comfort zone.

this is funny because a while ago, myself and legend had a bit of an arguement about why he himself has never traveled up this way to get spanked by our locals.... we have some great drivers around our area, love them or hate them, the talent is there. and we've had alot of people succeed away from their "comfort zone"That sucks I was looking forward to the legend lapping them in the heat race

I'm not saying that there isn't talent up there, I'm just saying that the guys up that way have a tendency not to travel all that much, and especially not to PPMS, where you need a big hammer of a motor to be competitive because it's so big and fast. That's okay, I'm sure they're having fun and saving money running closer to home. Every track and area has plenty of guys that don't do a lot of traveling.

Everyone on here including Dave and Todd seem to forget that Hummingbird had a track back in the 60's and 70's and was shut down to mine the coal out from under the track and probably because of the ecomomy around the middle of the 70's when louie opened it back up it was just because he wanted to have a track again and he knows saturday nights are the best night to race you don't have to beat it home from work on a friday and gather everything up to go racing and sundays, if it runs late people have work on monday morning .both tracks should have been able to work out a compromise ( a.m.p and Hummingbird ) but it didn't work out and both tracks had their share of cars this season so you can argue all you want about who should do what but remember this Thunder mountain tried to run against Hummingbird at one time and it didn't work for them .as long as both tracks are happy let it go already.I think amp needs to move Friday nights. there would be better car counts for all tracks because now theres hummingbird, marion center, and them all close to each other that run sat and only a coulpe tracks that run Fridays around. who all agrees

It doesn't have so much to do with racing as it does the mentality of the area and economics. You may drive 45 minutes to a job in the city, when many up here drive 45 minutes just to have a job, and decent paying jobs are scarce. Look at hummingbird, take a 25 mile radius, and the biggest town doesn't even have over 10,000 people. On the same token, on a given Saturday night, city folk have tons of options, us back woods folk can either get drunk or go to the races, and yes we all b*tch that there is nothing to do. With that said, on any given week we may have 20-25 people that come directly to watch or help in the pits. It gives them SOMETHING to do. I have traveled around, and can run up front on any given night, but seeing the fans and pit people happy, and able to come out to watch is priceless, and without the fans-we wouldn't have a sport
