The final Action Event at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway takes place this Saturday, October 5th, as the Sunoco Late Model Sportsman drivers will battle in their final Showdown Series event, the FallOver 20. The 20 lap main event will pay the winner $500.00. In addition to the Late Model Sportsman, a complete program for the Diehl of Robinson Super Late Models, Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Late Models, Miley BP Carwash Hobby Stocks, Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns and the Pro-4 Division is scheduled.

"It is difficult to believe but the regular racing season will come to an end this Saturday evening," stated Speedway Owner Matt Miley. "We have been blessed with great weather this entire season and this Saturday we will give the Super Late Model and Pro-Late Model competitors one final chance to get ready for next weekend's 25th Silver Anniversary Pittsburgher. In addition, the FallOver 20 Late Model Sportsman finale will provide the area's best Late Model Sportsman competitors with one more opportunity to master Dirt's Monster Half Mile."

Jeff Broniszewski was the winner in last Saturday's LMS feature event and has a total of eight victories to his credit this season. Other winners who will be vying for the FallOver trophy include the 2013 divisional champion Nick Kocuba, two time winner Vince Laboon and Pat Weldon. Since many area speedways are closed for the season it is expected that some "out of town invaders" may make the trek to Imperial, PA to try and score the win over the PPMS regulars.

The newly crowned Super Late Model Champion Alex Ferree continued his fine season with another dominating performance in last week's main event. Ferree scored his fifth victory of the year at the Imperial, PA oval as he defeated John Mollick in the 25-lap non-stop feature event. Ferree also set a new track record as he toured the Imperial, PA oval at an average of 130 miles per hour in the feature event. The second generation pilot has been the hottest driver on the Western PA circuit since July and is one of the favorites to claim the $25,000 payday in next weekend's NDRL sanctioned event.

Bill Tennant of Colliers, WV defeated his wife April to score the win in the first ever Pro-4 main event held at the speedway. Alex Paden, a regular at the Mercer Raceway Park, scored a third place finish and was followed by Dale Kimberly and Mark Tringes, Sr.

Other winners last Saturday evening included Josh Holtgraver, who scored his second Pro-Late Model victory of the season; asphalt driver Adam Kostelnik, who proved his prowess on the dirt, as he claimed the Hobby Stock win and O.B. Huff, who was the victory in Young Guns racing action.

Since the 2013 PPMS Points Titles have already been awarded the following rules will be in effect this weekend:

Super Late Models will have an Open Tire Rule (Any Brand, Any Compound)

Late Model Sportsman will have an Open Tire Rule and rules that were utilized for the Ed Laboon Memorial 20

Hobby Stocks may run 350 stock motors by adding 100 pounds. In addition any eight inch tire is permitted

The RUSH Pro-Late Models will continue to be on the weekly racing card and all RUSH Series rules will be enforced. In addition all current rules for the Young Guns Division will be in effect.

Adult Grandstand Admission for Saturday's racing action is $15.00. Seniors, Ages 60 and Over, are admitted for $14.00 with Juniors, Ages 13 to 16, priced at $10.00. Admission for Children aged Six through 12 is $5.00 and Children Under Age Six will be admitted Free. In addition, all children aged Six through 12 will receive a free gift when they present their admission ticket at the PPMS Gift Shop, which now features Apparel by Denise. Pit Admission for this week's racing action is $35.00.

Fans may bring their own refreshments however; glass bottles and alcoholic beverages are not permitted. In addition, coolers are limited to 14 inches or smaller in size. Don't forget that the Checkered Flag Food Court has a great variety of delicious food like hot and juicy quarter pound cheeseburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, curly fries and cotton candy at "fan friendly prices."

Race fans over the age of 21 can purchase alcoholic beverages at Ed's Pub, which is located under the main grandstand. Ed's features all major brands of beer plus wine, mixed drinks, and energy drinks at local tavern type pricing!

Fans are encouraged to sign up for free race day text messages to get the latest information on weather or traffic delays that may impact the racing action by clicking on the "Rained Out" logo on the speedway website, www.ppms.com. Additional information is also available on the speedway website: www.ppms.com.

In addition fans can obtain additional information by visiting the speedway's social media sites: www.twitter.com/PAMotorSpeedway; www.pinterest.com/pamotorspeedway; www.facebook.com/PittsburghsPennsylvaniaMotorSpeedway.

The staff and management of Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway would also like to thank all of the drivers, crew members, race fans and marketing partners for their support throughout the 2013 racing season. We recognize the fact that you have chosen to spend your Saturday evenings with us and your support is greatly appreciated.

Get ready for one more evening of exciting six division racing action as Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway presents the FallOver 20 for the Late Model Sportsman Division and lots more of exciting racing action this Saturday evening.

Wasn't the sportsman race supposed to pay more than $500? Cutting the purse at the last minute should help pull some cars...lol

All Sportsman Showdown races have been $700 to win and $100 to start. Why they cut this one down to $500 when last week they had 14 cars show up for a regular purse at $40 to get in is beyond me....

I'm assuming a regular purse with $200 more thrown in to win. And yes, it is still $35 to get in.

Yeah Danny I posted something on Matt's Facebook page asking what happened and didn't hear back so I assume it is not a mistake. It's a shame too because we've finally got back up to 12-15 cars and some guys were making the tow down for this one when it was $700 to win. I was sharing this event the last 2 weeks since it was a big show using my Dad's race rules. Now it's $200 less to win and I assume no longer $100 to start. Looks like the Sharon will be getting more cars for the $1000 to win open stock show now unfortunately for PPMS.

This is a copy of a post by Matt in the Pro-4 thread... I believe it was post #3: Young Gun & hobby stock driver admission is always $15...every event all year long...same at the next 2. Pro status, getting paid, gets you full price status! Hope some of the MDS guys do give it a whirl. Just a little test to see interest and what happens. Don't forget we have the Sportsman FallOver 20, $700 to win coming Oct 5! Ed Laboon 20 open rules SEPT 28 and OCT 5! Final race of the PPMS SPORTSMAN SHOWDOWN SERIES. Thanks to all who have participated in this series so far this year. Matt Guess he's going to have to open up the purse strings a little more come Saturday...

Matt knows that no matter what he does we will be there regardless, after all we spent $40 last week to run for a regular purse and support his sprint show guess this is how he shows his gratitude. I really hope that it is a misprint or at least I hope he kicks in some free wing sauce this week.

My $700 comment in the Pro 4 topic was an error. I'm sorry. The Race ad is correct, it is $500. I am a big supporter of the Sportsman class. IMO, most purses are not where we want them to be for lots of reasons, which get debated here all the time.

PPMS has given all paid divisions a series of special events trying various purse & lap structure.

20 lap Sportsman purse 10/5: $500, 250, 200, 150, 125, 120, 115, 110, 105, 100, 75, 50 to start. Our purse is available anytime in advance for any event by emailing me with the contact emails on our website.

"Our" sport is in a difficult time, time for all of us to do what we can to help it IMO. It's "our" choice.

Matt we appreciate the hard times and all. But $200 is 7 pit admissions. You'd get that with 2 extra cars at $700 to win as advertised. All LMS showdown events did well and you're still charging $35 to get in. You made your money on us at $300 to win with 14 cars and $40 to get in last week. As a thank you, you then drop the purse and make it $50 to start. Look how much better the fields are this year and for special shows using my Dad's rules. Now this for the last race of the year? I just don't get it.
