:( Ten day weather forecast calls for high temps in the mid 40's for the opening two days of Lernerville's Steel City Stampede. Sure hope something changes or we will not see this event until in the spring like last year's event. I have been looking forward to this event all year. :(

Why would anybody start looking at the weather for next weekend already? The meteorologists nowadays are pretty much clueless. Keep in mind that there was a 0% chance of rain last Friday and Saturday for the Pittsburgher and it rained both days.

Accuweather has a 45 day forecast now so it's not absurd to look that far ahead. Yes, forecasts for Exact Highs/Lows more than 5 days out aren't always very accurate. However It's fairly certain that there will be a major cool down by next weekend... The jet stream is going to dive way south, which will bring a cold Canadian air mass deep into the US.

You're expecting them to cancel a 3 day race with over 300 cars two days before the event is scheduled?

Yeah, that'll happen!

They won't give a shit about temps in the 40's, they'll race in those if it's not gonna rain, and it's way too early yet to even try to guess precip timing and amounts for the Stampede. Start watching the weather reports about Sunday or so. Too much time for them to be wrong now.

Could you imagine the hecklers Lernerville would have to deal with if they cancelled this race now because of the forecast? Seems like promoters catch heck if they cancel early or actually try and race...no win situation if you ask me.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Then you have post after post of "they could have raced". That's probably true, but Lernerville has a pretty good handle on crowd expectation as it relates to weather. Even though I might get pissed if they cancelled, they do so as it relates to the bottom line. And if the bottom line isn't healthy, they aren't open. It's that simple. So, we all have to take the good with the bad, although this event will probably make most of the receipts off of the back gate.

They can easily still make a nice profit off the back gate alone. Then add in extra money like concessions, vendors, reserved camping, ect. Worst case they break even. With this being the last "local" race in the area, i think alot of teams and hopefully fans will support this event!
