With one full season in the books, what are some thoughts about the semi-late division? They started with 2 cars, and by the end of the season they had about 15 that competed at some point (although not all on the same night.)
Myself, I like the class, and I think it will continue to grow in regards to car counts. Does the "no spoiler" rule help with cost reduction and/or performance? I'd like to see a spoiler on them, just for appearance.
We did have 19 different cars this season and one that was a 604 so to see the difference between the cars.We have changed the spoiler rule for 2014.Jeff had them run without the spoilers last season to just give some difference between the two classes.AMP will have 12 new cars in this class to start the season. This will make for a full field to start the season.Way more than their expectations were for only the second season. Many new things to help racing for the drivers and fans. They will allow the spoilers next season. They have notified most of the semi lates to let them know.

I spoke with John 7-up car and I believe he was using his crate stuff up as well. 4 gallons of fuel a night is all they used as well.
Thanks for the update! It's good to see this class continue to grow. It is a lot closer to what I thought the original crate divisions were designed to be.
Another question for teams that compete in this class... Do you buy new tires, or used tires from other teams?

street stocks have been looking like late models for years. take a look at some of the pro-1 cars. only way you can tell the difference, is whether they have wide 5's, or stock bolt patterns. they need to go back to the way they used to be to be able to tell the difference, STOCK appearing BODIES! not noses, or tail pieces. the WHOLE body. i think they looked way better then anyway. in my opinion, i think a stock 80's monte carlo body with a bit of a chop to the roof looks really cool!jeff needs to stick with rules for all classes...like street stocks...rules stated all rears must be inclosed and slowly but surely you started seeing more and more cars running open and then it was just whatever...so next year we will have 3 classes that look like late models now? good call...

To make the class really fair and cheap to run why not make the motors 602 crates. Instead of trying to find a 358 or having one built by a motor shop, a racer could drop a 602 in for 3,200 and go racing. We all know that people will tweak the 358 somewhere and have an advantage over others in the class!!I just got off the phone with Jeff and he stated absolutely no other rule changes.Jeff reminded me that when he opened AMP he wanted to make changes to the pure stock and the street stocks to go back the way it used to be.He spoke to some drivers and was told that was a bad idea and car counts would be very low.He decided to try and start an in expensive class, talked to some well informed car owners such as Scott Fenton and Nick Lofredo from Clinton County about what he wanted to do and this is how this class started.Their are a few changes coming in the 4 cylinder class, street stocks and pure stocks.Jeff has spoken to many drivers in those classes and will be announcing them with in a week.

with the rules in place, there isn't really a whole lot you can do to gain an advantageTo make the class really fair and cheap to run why not make the motors 602 crates. Well that's only if cam and head rules are followed. My question is if a certain car is winning all the time, is this car going to be teched? And who is to tell if the motor is a true 358, maybe it has much more ci than that. I just think it would make it much simpler to run the same engine in all cars, this takes away the cheating in motors!!with the rules in place, there isn't really a whole lot you can do to gain an advantage

you have a good point on that. but if the cars get teched regularly, like a random top 3 tech, every week one of the top 3 cars get teched. in no order, just st random. pick a number at the beginning of the night, whether it be 1st 2nd or 3rd, just don't tell the racers or teams what place it will be. that would kinda keep them on their toes. possibly keeping them in the rules.Well that's only if cam and head rules are followed. A tech man, worth anything at all can pump a motor.it'll tell you exactly how many cubes it is.
