From humble beginnings just 2 years ago, the PA Vintage Dirt Modifieds will register 23 cars for the 2014 season. Two well known names joining the Series this coming year will be long time racer and current Late Model driver Jim Kurpakus and the legendary 'Reno Rocket' Les Myers. Kurpakus, from Leechburg PA who has mentored Kevin 'Marbles' Mohney since the Class and Series began, will hit the track with a 2 car team - a 1948 Crossley bodied car for himself, while a new Nash Metropolitian bodied car being built for Mohney. Myers from Reno PA, was super impressed with the attitude of the drivers and Club when he ran the Cherokee Ruth car against them at Sportsmans Speedway 2 years ago, has a 40's Pontiac coupe of his own in the process. Howard Duff from Mercer PA, has retired his '37 Ford coupe to the showroom and will pilot a new Ford Falcon bodied car in 2014. This car is numbered 'circle 2' and built in memory of Mercer Modified pilot Ed Alcorn who passed away 2 years ago. Add in Altoona PA's Denny Smouse in a Mudd Bus, Erie PA's Bob Armbruster in a Gremlin, Rick Majka from Fredonia NY in another Mudd Bus and father and son team, Jim and Paul St John from Leechburg PA in a '46 Ford coupe. Some of these new cars have a little history behind them with Armbrusters in particular having a significant past. The car was built by Kenny Brightbill and raced through out NY by a host of well known drivers. Current drivers for the Series in 2014 include..... #7a of Paul Bacchus from Valencia PA #1 Dale McCandless from Butler PA #6a Osmer Racing from Petrolia PA #68 Mark Weigle from Friedens PA #95 Chris Ketch from Ransomville NY #47 Alan Byerly from Warren PA #6 Rick Pastor from Fredricksburg MD #55 Dave George from New Kensington PA #9 Randy Stivenson from Sarver PA #51 Roger Stivenson from Freeport PA #39 Jim Vandenwalle from Canaseraga NY #07 Gene Steele from Pemberville OH #66 Jim 'Dingo' Kirkwood from Clearfield PA #40 Scott Covert/KR Bridges from New Kensington PA #5 Jim McDermott/Terry Wells from Hiram OH The PA Vintage Dirt Modifieds are currently in negotiation with 16 tracks for a round of their Series in 2014 with Bedford Speedway, Americas Motorsports Park and PPMS already confirmed. That is exciting but do you really think the series is growing I never saw many cars racing and he kicked someone out that's no way to get more members plus everything is a secret he won't even tell you who got kicked out or who won awards or points from the last two years I like modifieds the best of any cars but this guy just wants to be the boss of something I hope tracks still let them race with only a few cars it's nice to see different cars

Chevy Motor?

Yea it made quite the stink in the shop. The place still hasn't aired out yet. My dad built the car for a guy out east.

I can only take credit for financing the build and the concept. Falcon body came from some nice guys in Pittsburgh and the chassis and Body fabrication were done by Randy Stivenson ( also the Motor) and Tyler Dietz who just opened a fabrication shop near Sarver. Tyler does excellent work and can build anything you can dream up. I am going to run both the coupe and the Falcon in 2014.

That sounds more like it. Lots of nice vintage stuff comes out of that shop. 3 or 4 Vintage cars for sale at Kreitz Saturday. Almost forgot looks good.
