What motor would be best to run all Western pa Tracks in a Stock Car ? 358 383 408

if its pure stock 358,if its street stock 383 or 406

I think it depends on where you want to run... PPMS would be fine with a 358 or a 383 only, but the shorter tracks with the heavier cars seem to want a 406. I've driven an emod with all 3 and a pure stock with a 383 and a 406, so this is just my personal preference.

you don't need a big hammer. 383 with the right gears should work just fine anywhere. if you feel like a 383 is too much for where you'll be running, put a little taller gear in and it'll even itself out for the most part.

to be safe a 406 might be a better idea , i don't think 2 cubic inches are worth not being legal in case you should run into a tech guy who knows what he is doing . that is if you plan on running a street stock. if not a destroked 400 block with a 327 crank run real nice .pumps out at 358.

That combination doesn't have much torque unless you gear the hell out of it ... Slm guys who run a 4.125 with a 3.35 twist them like 9200 ... Which isn't possible without titanium valves , shaft rockers and a dry sump ..

with a 358 you may have a weight break depending where you race. A good 358 with a 2 brl. would be my choice.

Cheaters..... 383s destroked 400s all illegal engines to run. Stock stroke cranks only.
