PENN OHIO PRO STOCK CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES ADDS SPONSORS AND ADDITIONAL RACES!

Although the temperature remains frigid outside, the Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series continues to heat up as it prepares for its first season in 2014. Veteran Stock Car racer Shaun Hooks is pleased to announce five new contingency sponsors and a schedule addition at the two-day Apple Festival Nationals at Sharon Speedway the weekend of September 12th and 13th. “I am real pleased with the progress of the series. All five of the sponsors who have joined on will bring real value to the series as well as increase the awards available for our series participants. The distribution of these additional awards will be worked out and announced in the near future.” noted Hooks. “In addition, we are now part of both days of the Sharon Apple Festival Nationals in September at a great race track and I can’t thank Dave Willoughby enough for allowing the series to be part of this big event.”
Jason Ore from 955 Automotive Racing out of Erie, PA has signed on to provide a cash incentive at year end and individual event giveaways. 955 Automotive Racing is a premier engine builder in our area. “I think the series will showcase the talent in this division and I am excited to be part of the first season” noted Ore. “955 Automotive has worked with a number of Stock Car drivers over the years” They are located at 4725 Iroquois Drive, Erie PA and can be contacted at (814) 897-9559. Bob Schwartzmiller, owner of Schwartzmiller Ground Maintenance and tough competitor in the Stock Car Series has also agreed to sign on as a contingency sponsor. Bob will be running for the first annual championship title and is pleased that this class is getting some recognition. “The class has long been forgotten, but produces some of the best racing on a weekly basis, and I am excited about running for the title as well as offering some bonus money for the series.” Schwartzmiller Ground Maintenance offers many services to owners in the Pittsburgh area including lawn maintenance, snow removal and general construction services. Brad Hibbard of Race-1 in Polland, Ohio, a long time supporter of area racing jumped at the chance to be involved in the series. “I think this is an excellent opportunity for the guys in this class to have something much bigger to shoot for” stated Hibbard. Through his affiliation with Crate Innovators, Race-1 will provide a carb spacer as a contingency prize for each event. In addition, Race-1 will offer to the first actual series event race winner running a GM 602 crate motor a traditional off season rebuild (rings & bearings) at no charge or 50% off a traditional off season rebuild for a GM 604 crate engine. “These rebuilds would be completed during the next off season and are valued at $1,500” noted Hibbard. Race-1 offers a complete engine solution from crate motors through new engine sales and setups. They are located at 299 E. Travis Harry, owner of Les Frickshun Inc in Reno, PA and longtime engine builder has also thrown in his support for the series with product awards at each event. “The talent and progression of the cars in this class is tremendous and the timing is right for a series for these races. Finally Dave Willoughby owner of Wedge Motorsports and Sharon Speedway Promoter has also joined the growing list of companies partnering up with the series by offering product gift certificates to be used at each of the series events. In addition to the contingency sponsors, the Series is also pleased to be included in the Annual Sharon Apple Festival Nationals at Sharon Speedway, in Hartford Ohio the weekend of September 12th and 13th. The weekend will feature two complete shows for the series and points will be awarded for participating drivers on both days. Full details on the event will be announced at a later date.
The Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series will feature at least 10 events located in Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania at various tracks utilizing the tracks rules and format. Registered Drivers for the series will receive points towards the year end championship with a guaranteed $5,000 point fund. I just want to wish all involved with this GOOD LUCK!! I think it will be great for the Stock Car/Street Stock classes which have been taking
their lumps on car counts the past couple of years due to the crate engine Late Models and all the lower classes that have popped up!!
This may help revive the class!!
