Ramey Womer CNB Bank Raceway Park Media Relations M: 814-577-1346 ramey36@comcast.net For immediate release: CNB BANK RACEWAY PARK WELCOMES 6 MORE WEEKS OF WINTER WITH THE GROUNDHOG 100 (CLEARFIELD, PA) A few months ago, drivers and fans asked for something to break up the winter. CNB Bank Raceway Park owner Rob Hindt made it happen. On Saturday Feb 1st, twenty enduro teams and a nice amount of fans braved the elements and ran 100 non-stop laps at Clearfield PA’s 5/8 mile asphalt oval. The track started with 6 inches of snow and by the end of the race was worn to a wet groove down low, and heavy, treacherous slush up top. Flagman Jon Shipley waved the green for the standing start with Aaron Hill starting on the pole. Hill held the lead for 4 laps, before a mechanical problem sent him pitside. #75 Brian Sprague took over and was in control until lap 35 when he dropped out due to a broken timing belt. From there, Skip Lindemuth, #455, took over the lead until lap 49. Enduro specialist, Tim Gillette (#43) passed Skip for the lead and proceeded to slice and dice through lapped traffic. Tim was challenged for a few laps by Jimmy Neiman, who chose to start dead last and worked his way up through the field. Steve Cook, a former street stock champion at CNB moved up to challenge Gillette at about lap 65 and kept the pressure on throughout the rest of the race. The fans got their money’s worth multiple times with Cook looking high and low in lapped traffic and occasionally pulling up to Gillette’s bumper. Neiman slipped back to fourth on lap 86 when Eric Boozel powered by. The top four ran together with only 15 seconds separating them the last 15 laps of the race – a testament to their driving skill in challenging conditions. Gillette never faltered and went on for the big win. In addition to the enduro, CNB hosted the first ever skid plate race exhibition. The skid plate cars are a blast to watch and can never get a flat rear tire. Why? Because the rear wheels are replaced with flat metal skid plates which make spins a common occurrence. CNB Bank Raceway Park is looking forward to hosting the skid plates and enduros multiple times during the 2014 season. Hell Yeah! I told fellow racers and fans that had no idea. Believe me I too was surprised.

There's always more speed! And you don't have to cheat to find it!

I've heard a few times about (1) how much fun the race was for drivers, teams and fans and (2) that advertising needed bumped up. Four cars on the lead lap after 100 laps in snow, wet and slush was awesome. We are already looking at multiple advertising outlets for the April 12 enduro. We'll be doing more electronic media (FB, 'Stud, Twitter, other boards) along with newsprint, radio, AARN, and so on.
