Hicks, Horstman, White, and Ruefer take the checkered flag at Waynesfield Motorsports Park This Saturday three of the four winners were first timers in one way or another. While Jared Horstman is familiar with victory lane at Waynesfield Mike Hicks and Cody White were first time winners there and Jake Ruefer. Well this was his first trip to the track period and it ended with smiles all around for driver and crew. Saturday night our Mini-Sprints would begin the introduction to the fans that showed up to endure the cold May evening. Rod Henning, Jared Horstman, and Hank Zimpfar started the event out with wins in our three heat races. With the feature set TJ Jenkins was ready for his time in the sun flashing into the lead at the drop of the green flag. That was after Justin Myers flipped on the initial start that had to be called back. It would be short lived for the fact that Jared Horstman was looking to make up for running out of fuel in our first race of the year. Five laps in the 20 took the lead and began to build on it over the 51. At the half-way mark in the race the 51of Jon Cottrell was catching up to the leader until he spun in three and four. Just after the restart it would be Tyler Hesson taking all of the views from the fans with a flip in three and once the car stopped in then caught fire. The 12 and 9J were also involved but both were able to continue on. After that the 20 was simply in his own league pulling farther away from the competition with each lap completed. Jared won by a quarter lap over the 26 of Rod Henning. Non-wing Sprints were up next and it was good to be named Mike in our heat races. Miller in Heat 1, Burkin in Heat 2, Dunlap in Heat 3. At the drop of the green flag for the A another name would finally grace the leaderboard. The 26 of Cody White would shoot out into the lead with the 34 of Luke Hall close behind. All through the race with the 34 hounding the leader, another heated battle was happening between the three Mike’s all wanting not only the third position from each other but also to close in on the leaders. With two laps to go in one and two Luke Hall got a monster run on the 26 but that was negated when the 37K on Kyle Conaway ripped down some of the fence during a nasty flip on the backstretch. The final restart would be the last chance for the 34 but he did not have enough and it was Cody White taking his first sprint car victory ever at Waynesfield Motorsports Park. “First and foremost I need to thank my Dad.” “Clay Keim at CA Kustoms is my sponsor and boss and he gives me what I need to do this.” Rick Daugherty set the car up and he gave me the hot tip to run up front.” Cody wanted to thank the track prep crew for a great track and hopes for more nights like this both in finishes and track conditions saying that it was a fast, driver’s track. Next up for the fans were the Trucks and Sam Casey, Mike Hicks, and Pete Zuppardo took victory honors in the three qualifying events. In the feature on lap two it would be Nathan Mailhot bringing out the first caution when a tire and wheel had enough and removed itself from the truck. On the restart Mike Hicks was leading with a fast charging Pete Zuppardo right on his tailgate. With eight laps completed the 21Z would pull off when a right rear tire came off the rim bringing out another yellow flag for more debris. Right around the half-way mark the 33 started to leave the rest of the field behind with the 9C, 4F, and 18N nose to tail. At the end of the feature Hicks had a nearly half-lap lead cruising under the black and white flag. Mike Hicks wanted to thank his family for all of the help they give working on and setting up the truck and is just happy with a place to race on Saturday night in the Westside Pizza number 33. This was his first win at the track. Last up this week was our Modified division and like usual, the left front tires on the cars were not touching the track except for corner entry putting on an exciting show for the fans. Heat race wins went to Jon Henry, Doug St Myers, and Brian Post. At the start of the feature event Jon Henry once again found himself in the lead and looked as though the first win of 2007 would be just be twenty laps down the road. Several other drivers though had something else in mind. Early in the feature between the top-seven cars mini battles for position were everywhere, each spot changing hands, every corner. As the race moved on the J52 was inching closer and closer to the 18 wanting the win and the greenbacks that go with it. In the end Jake Ruefer got by the 18 taking the checkered flag in his first ever trip to WMP. “The track was a little rough, but tacky up until the end. If you go out there right now it’s still tacky.” “I had some good speed in my heat out of this Buzzard Chassis but it was just a little tight so we made some changes for the feature.” “ I had a blast tonight and hope to be back soon this year!” Mini-Sprints Heat 1 1 26 Rod Henning 2 Jon Cottrell 3 24J TJ Jenkins 4 9J Jesse McCreary 5 Tyler Hesson 6 60 Kory Crabtree 7 B4 8 76 Heat 2 1 20 Jared Horstman 2 24P Jamie Paul 3 328 Becca Stiefel 4 40 Steve Bendeles 5 12 Devin Dobie 6 1 Carl Hamilton 7 31 Heat 3 1 5Z Hank Zimpfar 2 6 Keith Crabtree 3 2 Josh Yenser 4 4 Chris Smalley 5 4X Justin Myers 6 18 Todd Keen Non Wing Sprints Heat 1 1 82 Mike Miller 2 34 Luke Hall 3 9N Jon Nelson 4 13 John Hawk 5 97 Bret Mellenberndt 6 8 Lewie Christian 7 95 Steve Ball 8 23S Steve Simon Heat 2 1 48 Mike Burkin 2 2X Brad Powley 3 21W Dennis Ward Jr 4 40 Todd Gnat 5 74L Chad Levingston 6 3G Bob Gehr 7 2 Heat 3 1 57J Mike Dunlap 2 26 Cody White 3 40 Mark Hery 4 23N Aaron McFadden 5 37K Kyle Conaway 6 7X Brent Smith 7 7 Dustin Trost Trucks Heat 1 1 19K Sam Casey 2 9C Bill Harman 3 85Y Charlie Moore 4 13 Eric Sutter 5 4 Nathan Mailhot 6 26 Jessica Nuss 7 25G 8 55 Dave Voisard 9 52D Heat 2 1 33 Mike Hicks 2 4F Scott Fisher 3 11 Ralph Shackleford 4 5S Tom Stauffer 5 84X Darrell Porter 6 43 7 1W 8 20 9 22 Heat 3 1 21Z Pete Zuppardo 2 18N Darren Noffsinger 3 65 Randy Crossley 4 18B Tim Dick 5 31 Danny Kelly 6 48 Roger Keysor 7 10B Daryl Brackney 8 35X Modifieds Heat 1 18 Jon Henry 2 J52 Jake Ruefer 3 L5 Casey Luedeke 4 112 Chris Ullery 5 23D Steve Duty 6 23J 7 04S Heat 2 1 4S Doug St Myers 2 ZERO Brent Hole 3 20K Bill Keeler 4 36 Kelly Bowlby 5 36V Brandon Vaughan 6 44 Frank Luchini Heat 3 1 45P Brian Post 2 22T Tony Anderson 3 1 Sammie Holcomb 4 10 Brandon Jacobs 5 55H Jeremy Hoenie 6 20 Robbie Philpot Mini-Sprints Feature 1. 20 2. 26 3. 4. 6 5. 51 6. 24J 7. 5Z 8. 40 9. 2 10. 18 11. 24P 12. 9J 13. 4X 14. 12 15. 328 16. 7T 17. 60 18. 1 19. 0 20. 21 Non-Wing Sprint Feature 1. 26 2. 34 3. 48 4. 57J 5. 82 6. 97 7. 9N 8. 23N 9. 74L 10. 40G 11. 8 12. 13 13. 2X 14. 3G 15. 37K 16. 40 17. 7X 18. 95 19. 23S 20. 21W Trucks Feature 1. 33 2. 9C 3. 4F 4. 18N 5. 85Y 6. 31 7. 65 8. 11 9. 48 10. 5S 11. 84 12. 10B 13. 13 14. 18B 15. 19K 16. 52H 17. 55 18. 21Z 19. 4 20. 26 Modified Feature 1. Randy, I noticed that yet at the bottom. We finally took the head off our motor and I was wondering if a cracked cylinder wall big enough to put a small screwdriver in might be a problem. The funny part was it still ran decent other than a miss at high rpm. So back to the drawing board, I guess the only good part of the deal is that the head is still good. Hope everybody puts all the good toys on there trucks over the week off, that way we can keep up with that sheriff truck and sounds like you too. talk to you later, Roger

Which end of the screwdriver - the handle end, or the other?
