Anyone have information on a steel Bowtie Block with a casting number of 966286, It's a 350 main and 350 bore (currently bored to 4.060), I'm trying to find the maximum bore limit on this block.

there are two types of steel bow ties that i know of. small bore, which is not what you have, and larger bore. part number 10051183. cylinders rough bored to 3 980 main bearing bulkheads, .900. can be safely bored to 4 .150. dont take my word for it. its been a few years since i had my hands on one. this is what i remember. good luck

Unfortunately the part number is gone from when the block was decked. Finding some info using casting numbers but none are the same as the one I have.

Are you sur on the numbers found 366286 is a bow tie aluminum block. I have seen the 400 blocks bored to 4.185 and 4.200 I would think pistons would be custom jmo.

Sonic test your block to see how much material you have to play with....Generally in a race application around .175-.250 on the major thrust side is acceptable.

Yes, I know that number is for an Aluminum block, and I found the specs for that casting number when searching for the one I have. just can't find the 966286 specs.

any luck yet? just curious. when i saw the topic bowtie block a small erection occurred . i wish i could help you build this thing. with all the bad weather, politics, and hatred, a good motor build is a good way to forget about ball sorts of problems.

The 184 block can go to around 4.190 , there were other bow tie blocks that can only go to around 4.090 , I would ask on 4m as there's a lot of engine builders there as opposed to toss offs on here
