To make it clear I have nothing against saterlee , he's very good in fact I would say top 30 in the country. But guys act like he's a local cadet racer down Florida with no pit crew running up front . He's a touring professional !!!! If Barbra , Miley or burgoon went down there with their current backing and ran up front consistently that would be local guys going down there and getting it done . You guys paint this David VS Goliath picture when it isn't at all !!

I agree he certainly has a well funded and staffed operation. Thats what it takes to run with the teams on the pro circuits. I also agree there are other drivers from the area who would perform well with the right backing. We are lucky to have some very good talent in this region and have had for some time. My point was to be happy for Gregg and give him his due because even though he has great backing he is running against teams who have the same if not more.

I tend to agree. Gregg is a great driver, but he's on the same level of his competition equipment wise. I mean, he's already won with the WoO. What Mollick did at East Bay was more on the level of David Vs. Goliath.

on my end, I just think its pretty cool for a local guy to be running well pretty much everywhere against top names. do I watch for satterlee when im watching it on the internet or tv? yeah, just because ive seen him race around here a lot. but I do agree with you on the david vs. goliath thing.

Good point, Jammin' Johnny did pretty well down at East Bay. Nice to see he was able to make shows and be competitive down there.

Lets not forget the level of competition is way down! I don't think there has been more than 44 cars any one night at any of these tracks! Granted...... its still as hard as ever to win because all the "Greats" are there running up front as allways! But I like the odds of getting into a show with 44 cars on hand way better than 120 cars on hand! Its simply numbers! There was only 27....30...and 32 at the Land of Bubba for his Outlaw shows But I guess even there the level of experience showed with who made the shows and who didn't! Hats off to all the Local guys in Forida racing! I give all respect to all racers! If it were easy....everyone would be doing it! They are all doing a grest job!

Technically the closest thing to a non touring local down south is john mollick. I did not keep up with the results but I do believe he raced his way into a few Lucas oil features.

I think it's great to see a local guy do well at the national level. I really don't think it's a David vs Goliath thing either. If bloomer or Owens happened to be from western pa, I'd probably think it was cool to see them at that level too. As for the lack of cars/competition, it's not making it any easier. The names are still there. The only thing missing is the field fillers. Only way that changes anything is it makes it easier to bounce back from bad luck if you don't have to start behind a pile of cars in b or c mains.

Out of all the replys to this post, I think 714d has hit the nail on the head. I think it is the most logical and makes the most sense to me. IMHO

I remember 80 or 90 cars at east bay but not 120 and I follow pretty closely and I have for a long time ...

Late 90's early 2000's there would be in the 90's at East bay and around 120 at Volusia! And as many E-mods as well! The Sprint and Big Block numbers were about the same as they are now! Bubba was under pavement at that time! Volusia also ran a pavement track next to the big track at the same time! Pay one price and get into both tracks! But the pavement cars were about Junk! When WoO bought the place..they tore up the pavement and took the Bleachers from there to the pits at the dirt track! But the lights are still inp[lace were the pavement track was!
